Ellen DeGeneres Sued After Allegedly Causing Car Crash

Ellen DeGeneres is facing some legal trouble.

According to court documents obtained by *People* magazine, a woman is suing Ellen DeGeneres, claiming she ran a stop sign in Santa Barbara, California, and caused a car accident. The woman alleges Ellen’s negligence led to a collision with her vehicle.

The lawsuit states that the intersection where the incident happened in October 2023 has stop signs on all sides.

According to reports, the woman claimed she came to a complete stop at her stop sign and checked for other cars before driving forward. However, Ellen reportedly crashed into her Tesla without warning, hitting the side of the car.

According to People magazine, the woman’s lawsuit states she experienced significant injuries and damages from the accident, including lost wages, medical bills, and emotional suffering that impacted her quality of life.

Ellen hasn’t spoken publicly about the accusations, but this new legal issue arises as she and her wife, Portia de Rossi, settle into life in the English countryside after their move last year.

Ellen shared a video on Instagram August 20th of her wife, Portia, horseback riding in the English countryside. She captioned it, expressing how much she hopes Portia returns home soon.

After getting married in 2008, the couple moved to England in November 2024. They recently left their $30 million home in the Cotswolds for a different property nearby, giving Portia more space to pursue her love of horseback riding.

When we decided to move here permanently, we knew Portia needed to be able to keep her horses,” the 67-year-old explained to *The Wall Street Journal* in July. “So, we looked for a house with a barn and enough land for them to graze.”

After all, the couple wanted to take advantage of the “absolutely beautiful” pastoral area.

At an event on July 20th with Richard Bacon, Ellen remarked to the BBC that the scenery was breathtaking. She explained that the villages, towns, and buildings were all lovely, and that life seemed much more relaxed and uncomplicated there.

She added, “It’s so clean.” She felt everything was improved compared to where she used to be-the animals were well-cared for, and everyone was friendly. She said she really loved living there.
