Legendary artist, Sir Elton John, has shared the exciting news that he is set to unveil a brand-new collaborative album with his dear friend, Brandi Carlile, coming out on the 4th of April.
The album titled “Who Believes in Angels?” will showcase 10 tracks penned by the duo, alongside collaborator Bernie Taupin and producer Andrew Watt. Among these are the previously released Oscar-nominated song “Never Too Late,” which was featured in the recent Disney Plus documentary “Elton John: Never Too Late.
It’s been said that the idea for this album originated in April 2023, with the process commencing then. During these sessions, a star-studded backup band was assembled, consisting of Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, ex-Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, and bassist Pino Palladino.
Regarding the album, John expressed that it was “among the most challenging I’ve ever produced,” yet he also considered it “one of the most rewarding musical journeys of my existence.” He further emphasized that this album signifies the beginning of a fresh phase in his professional journey.
He expressed: “This spot provides me a space to progress further. Entering Who Believes in Angels seems like stepping into another time period, and I’m eagerly opening the door to enter the future. The past with all my accomplishments lies behind me, and it’s been nothing short of spectacular.
This represents a fresh beginning for me. Essentially, I view this as the commencement of my second career phase.
Meanwhile, Carlile said she was “still reeling from the fact that I got to do” the album.
She mentioned: “I believe that all compositions benefit from Elton John’s songwriting standards, and it was a remarkably tough yet motivating atmosphere to be part of. Everyone was contributing ideas, everyone was open to listening to each other’s suggestions. It seemed like a close-knit group.
Living in the world today can be quite challenging, filled with turmoil and difficulty. Finding tranquility and success seems elusive. Yet, it takes courage to pursue moments of happiness and exhilaration. This album, for me, embodies exactly that – a bold quest for joy amidst life’s complexities.
The main song from the album is now available along with the announcement, and it has also been revealed that Elton John and Brandi Carlile will be putting on a show called “An Evening with Elton John and Brandi Carlile” at the London Palladium on March 26th.
