Get ready to see Embo come to life in the upcoming film, The Mandalorian & Grogu – and this is huge news for fans! He’s shaping up to be one of the most memorable and unique characters in the entire Star Wars universe.
Though Boba Fett and Cad Bane are more famous, Embo is just as legendary when it comes to bounty hunters in the Star Wars universe. His upcoming appearance in a live-action show is about to make his already exciting Star Wars story even more interesting.
Embo Will Make His Live-Action Debut in The Mandalorian & Grogu
Embo, the popular character from Star Wars, is finally appearing in live-action in the upcoming The Mandalorian & Grogu series, along with his companion, Marrok. While it hasn’t been officially announced, many expect Dave Filoni – now head of Lucasfilm – to reprise his role voicing Embo. Filoni originally created Embo’s unique alien language by playfully mispronouncing lines from French Smurfs books. It’s likely he’ll continue to voice the character in the live-action series.
I just watched the new Mandalorian & Grogu trailer, and it looks intense! We see Embo showing up at Din Djarin’s place in the rain at night, and then, shockingly, Din Djarin without his helmet, facing the cousins of the late Jabba the Hutt. It definitely seems like the Hutts hired Embo to track Din down.
Even before the announcement of his appearance in the live-action series, Embo’s story in Star Wars was remarkably wild and complex.
Embo’s Star Wars History Is Actually NUTS (Here’s The Basic Breakdown)

Embo’s story, starting with his adventures in The Clone Wars, is full of exciting and daring experiences. He first teamed up with Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Ahsoka Tano to protect farmers from pirates. Later, while working for the Hutts, he and his bounty hunter crew managed to survive a dangerous battle against Darth Maul and Savage Opress.
I always found Embo fascinating. After working with Boba Fett’s team, he teamed up with Asajj Ventress, and things got really intense – he was actually part of a plot to assassinate Palpatine! But the coolest part? He went toe-to-toe with Anakin Skywalker in season six of The Clone Wars and honestly, he gave Anakin a serious challenge. It was a fantastic fight!

Embo was a widely recognized and respected figure throughout the galaxy, so much so that he inspired art created by Sabine Wren in Star Wars Rebels. After the events of Return of the Jedi, he had a conflict with Lando Calrissian and secretly helped during the Battle of Jakku. Eventually, he received a pardon from the New Republic and settled down to a quiet life of farming on Felucia.
Despite trying to retire, Embo apparently couldn’t resist the life of a bounty hunter, which is why he’s appearing in The Mandalorian and Grogu. Given his history of wild adventures across different time periods, it’s going to be thrilling to finally see this Kyuzo hunter brought to life on screen, complete with his signature metal hat and bowcaster.
The Mandalorian & Grogu releases in theaters on May 22nd, 2026.
