I’m so excited for Emilia Clarke‘s new show! It sounds absolutely gripping – she’s playing one of two secretaries who become CIA operatives after their husbands pass away during the Cold War. Apparently, they stumble onto a huge conspiracy, and Peacock just released some first-look photos and details. It’s coming out early next year, and I can’t wait!
In 1977 Moscow, Bea and Twila are seemingly ordinary secretaries at the American Embassy, known within intelligence circles as “PONIES” – people considered unimportant. But their lives change dramatically when their husbands are killed under suspicious circumstances in the Soviet Union, leading them to become CIA agents. Bea, the daughter of Soviet immigrants, is highly educated and fluent in Russian. Twila, a tough and fearless woman from a small town, complements her skills. Together, they must unravel a large Cold War plot and discover the truth behind their husbands’ deaths.
