Hollywood is mourning the loss of a talented director.
As a connoisseur of all things stylish and cinematic, I am deeply saddened to share that my journey took an unexpected turn during our filming of Emily in Paris’ fifth season in the enchanting city of Venice, Italy. On August 22, life as we knew it on set came to a standstill when our esteemed assistant director, Diego Borella, left us at the tender age of 47. Multiple local sources confirm this unfortunate news, leaving a gap in our creative family that cannot be filled.
During the process of shooting the last scene within Venice’s ancient Hotel Danieli, local news sources claimed that Borella suffered a collapse around 7 p.m. local time. The medical team present on set attempted to resuscitate Borella, according to several reports, but he tragically passed away at the location itself.
At the scene, a local physician, arriving promptly, verified the passing of the assistant director, according to La Repubblica, adding that it appeared he succumbed to a sudden cardiac arrest.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase it as: “Thursday evening, at exactly 6:42 PM, our ambulance arrived on scene. Our team worked tirelessly to revive him, but unfortunately, all resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful. By approximately 7:30 PM, we had to sadly confirm his passing.
The production of the last episode in the fifth season has been put on hold, as reported by Il Messaggero, due to an occurrence.
TopMob News has reached out to Netflix for comment but has not heard back.
According to “La Repubblica,” a Venetian expert had honed his skills in Rome, London, and New York. He was famously versatile, excelling in cinema, visual arts, and literature. In the final months of his life, he immersed himself in composing poetry, fairy tales, and children’s stories.
The last occasion we met was during a dinner in Paris with his closest friend and mine; I reached out to him on Thursday – Mattia Berto shared this, a longtime friend of Borella’s, with the Spanish newspaper El Mundo. “Diego had an exceptional wit, he was immensely gifted, and his life was cut tragically short,” Berto continued. “His loss leaves us with profound sorrow; few words can truly capture our feelings.
As I reflect on my own journey just days before wrapping up an exciting project, I can’t help but share some behind-the-scenes insights, much like the enchanting Emily Cooper portrayed by Lily Collins in our recent comedy-drama. Filming this series on location was truly a unique experience that I’ll cherish forever.
Accompanying pictures of herself at a Venice pier and having a boat trip with her costar Ashley Park (Mindy Chen), the 36-year-old wrote on an August 19 Instagram post, “A delightful commute to and from work with the finest…
And in the comments, Ashley gushed about the memories they had made while in the Italian city.
The “Joy Ride” actress penned, “Title, hat, dear recollections game STANDOUT.” She expressed, “You are well aware of my affection for you. Another escapade added to the chronicles.
