The White Witch may not be offering Edmund Turkish delight this time around.
While we don’t know much about Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Narnia movies, Emma Mackey has been confirmed to star. She’ll be playing the White Witch, Jadis, a role famously portrayed by Tilda Swinton in the 2005 film based on C.S. Lewis’s book, over twenty years ago.
Did the actor from Sex Education ask the Oscar winner for advice on playing that famous role?
Emma confirmed to TopMob News at the premiere of her new film, Ella McCay, that she hadn’t spoken to Tilda Swinton. “It was a different situation,” she explained. “Tilda is someone I really admire, but I didn’t contact her.”
Although the actress didn’t explain what made the new Netflix versions different, she said it was wonderful to work with Greta again, as they previously collaborated on the 2023 film Barbie.
Emma explained that Greta is truly one-of-a-kind. Everyone agrees, and being back on set with her is a wonderful experience.
She also mentioned how wonderful it was to work with her fellow actors from Narnia, Daniel Craig and Carey Mulligan, adding that she felt very fortunate.

In a recent interview with MovieWeb, Emma described the project as a fantastic and exciting experience. She also shared her deep admiration and friendship with director Greta, calling her a truly inspiring person.
She concluded, “I’m just very fortunate to be on one of her sets. Truly.”
