Emma Roberts and Garrett Hedlund are giving their little one some fabulous memories to remember.
The actors from Unfabulous and Tulsa King, who separated in 2022 after dating for two years, got together again to take their son, Rhodes, to Universal Resort in Orlando for his 5th birthday.
Emma, 34, shared on Instagram on January 16th that she and a friend revisited Rhodes for a belated birthday celebration, saying it was so good they had to go twice! She tagged the post with #5, likely referencing Rhodes #5.
As expected, the former Nickelodeon star shared details of her family’s fun-filled day. They visited Toadstool’s Cafe in Super Nintendo World at Universal Epic Universe, experienced the Lorax and Cat in the Hat adventure at Islands of Adventure, and walked through the colorful E.T. tunnel. Emma and her husband, Garrett, 41, also snapped some cute selfies with their 4-year-old son, Rhodes, and gave him plenty of kisses.
The outing, Garrett noted in the comments of Emma’s Instagram post, was, “The Greatest!!!”
This getaway happened soon after the actress, known for her role in Scream Queens and recently engaged to Cody John (from Midsummer), spent the holidays with her son. She shared a heartwarming photo on Instagram in December of herself and her son Rhodes smiling while playing in the snow, with the caption “Merry merry.”
When Emma isn’t sharing their relationship online, she’s thinking about how much he’s changed the way she sees things.
Emma recently shared with Harper’s Bazaar Spain that becoming a mother has profoundly deepened her emotional range and understanding, both in her personal life and her career. She described seeing the world through her son’s eyes as a beautiful and perspective-shifting experience.
I’m still figuring out who I am, both as an individual and as a mom. I always do my best, even though I don’t always get it right, but I really do try.
Garrett is currently exploring what it means to be a father through his work as an actor. In the upcoming 2025 film, Barron’s Cove, he plays a character named Caleb who kidnaps the boy he holds responsible for the death of his own child.
He told TopMob News last June that the story made him think about how much parents would do for their children. He added that he strongly connected with his character because, like any parent, he felt there were no limits to what he’d do for his child.
The actor from Country Strong truly prioritized spending time with Rhodes that summer, rearranging his work commitments to be with her as much as possible.
He said everything was looking good. If he’d had to work all week, he expected a visit from someone – likely a relative – and they would have traveled around Georgia together. Instead, it seemed like he’d be able to enjoy a relaxing trip to the farm.
