Emmanuel Haro Case: Dad of 7-Month-Old Searches for Body After Arrest

Police are pressing forward in their search for Emmanuel Haro. 

A few days following the arrest of Rebecca Haro and Jake Haro on charges of murder regarding their missing 7-month-old child, Jake could be found helping in the search for the infant alongside authorities in a secluded area in Moreno Valley, California.

On August 24th, the baby’s father, wearing an orange prison uniform, appeared in news broadcasts alongside local law enforcement officials, roughly 20 miles away from where Rebecca alleged that Emmanuel, who is believed to be deceased, was abducted from her.

This afternoon, investigators from the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department, who are heading the case, conducted a search for Emmanuel Haro along the shoulder of the 60 Freeway heading west, close to Gilman Springs Road in Moreno Valley. They were aided by trained dogs that detect deceased bodies during the search. Jake Haro was present at the scene together with detectives.

Despite not finding Emmanuel during the search, the department remains committed to the case, stating, “Our efforts to locate Emmanuel are ongoing.

Two days ago, Jake and Rebecca, who are currently the main suspects, were taken into custody and detained without bail.

During the course of our probe up until now, we’ve carried out multiple interviews, executed search warrants, gathered and meticulously examined digital and electronic evidence. The SBSD revealed this in a press release dated August 22. Based on the findings, our investigators have concluded that no kidnapping took place in Yucaipa. It is thought that Emmanuel may be dead, and our focus now is on locating his remains.

The arrest of the couple occurred approximately one week following the claim by one member of the pair that Emmanuel had been abducted from the parking lot of a sports store.

She shared with NBC Los Angeles on August 17 that she removed the baby from his car seat and placed him on a chair. With diapers nearby, someone greeted her with “Hola,” causing her to be unable to turn. She doesn’t recall what happened next, but when she woke up, she found herself on the floor and could not locate her child. It seems someone had taken him from her.

However, authorities noticed some holes in Rebecca’s statements during their investigation.

The investigating team spoke with several people, among them were Emmanuel’s parents, Jake and Rebecca Haro, as mentioned in a press release on August 16th. When questioned further during these interviews, Rebecca was presented with discrepancies in her initial account and decided not to proceed with the interview anymore.

Eventually, investigators could not completely rule out the possibility of suspicious circumstances or misconduct in the disappearance of Emmanuel.
