Emmanuel Haro’s dad is maintaining his innocence.
A little over a week ago, Jake Haro and his wife Rebecca Haro were taken into custody for the alleged murder of their 7-month-old son. Now, nearly seven days later, Jake has broken his silence, claiming to The Orange County Register that the accusations leveled against them by authorities are completely untrue.
In the same interview, published on August 27, Jake mentioned that he wished to discuss the matter, however, due to advice from his lawyer, he couldn’t. His lawyer had instructed him not to engage with the media, saying, “Don’t speak to the press.
On August 22, Jake, together with Rebecca, was apprehended and indicted for the murder of Emmanuel and submitting a false police report. At present, he is detained at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, with a bail bond set at $1 million.
The man, who has a 2-year-old child with Rebecca and another 7-year-old child from a past relationship, informed a Californian news source that he has fully collaborated with the relevant authorities.
Jake additionally discussed his previous record of criminal offenses, specifically mentioning an instance from 2018 when he was convicted for child abuse. This case involved his infant daughter who, at just 10 weeks old, suffered multiple bone fractures, retinal hemorrhages, and brain injuries that resulted in lifelong disabilities.
In a recent interview with The Orange County Register, Jake expressed his preference for the case to proceed to trial; however, due to financial constraints, he was unable to cover the legal expenses, ultimately leading him to plead guilty. Although he acknowledged the sentence-180 days in a sheriff’s work-release program and mandatory attendance at a child abuser treatment program-as reasonable, he insisted that the incident for which he was charged was an unintentional accident.
He expressed his frustration by saying, “I had grown tired of the court,” implying that he believed he had been persuaded somehow to accept this infuriating plea deal.
TopMob News has been trying to find a court plea from Jake related to the 2023 case, as well as seeking responses from his legal team about Emmanuel’s case, however, no replies have been received so far.
As for his wife Rebecca, Jake also insisted the 41-year-old is innocent.
“The media is killing her,” he said. “She is a beautiful woman. She loves her children.”
Even so, Jake admitted he understands the scrutiny he and his wife are under.
He stated, “Given the severity of the accusations, it’s completely understandable that people would feel upset.” He added, “We take comfort in believing that we have divine support.
If there was one thing Jake could say to his 7-month-old, he said, “I love you, buddy.”
The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department chose not to provide any comments regarding Jake’s interview when approached by the Orange County Register.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share that, in this specific case, I won’t be offering any insights or comments regarding the allegations put forth by the individual under scrutiny. Additionally, I’ll refrain from disclosing any details pertaining to the ongoing investigation to maintain confidentiality and uphold integrity in our reporting.
At the moment, Rebecca is detained at Robert Presley Detention Center, and her feelings mirrored those of her husband.
She informed a correspondent from the Southern California News Group, as reported by the Press-Enterprise on August 25th, that she would persist in her efforts. Her heartfelt wish is to keep searching for her child.
For a deeper look into the case, keep reading…
On August 14, 2025, evening reports emerged stating that Rebecca Haro claimed her and her husband Jake Haro’s seven-month-old son Emmanuel was kidnapped from a Big 5 sporting goods store in Yucaipa, California. According to the report, this alleged incident occurred while she was changing his diaper.
She shared with KTLA 5 on Aug. 15 that she had intended to retrieve a diaper, but then someone said “Hola,” and after that, she can’t recall anything else. When she came to, she found herself lying on the floor and couldn’t see Emmanuel around.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff later shared a press release regarding the search for Emmanuel.
The police are currently working on an ongoing search for a young child. We urgently need the public’s assistance in finding him. The child was last spotted wearing a black Nike onesie. He weighs around 21 pounds, stands approximately 24 inches tall, has brown hair and eyes, and has a noticeable cross-eye condition.
As the search for the child continued, authorities began to observe discrepancies in Rebecca’s account of her kidnapping. It was also revealed that Jake had hired a lawyer. Two days later, on August 22, 2025, both Jake and Rebecca were taken into custody and accused of their son’s murder, as well as providing false information to the police.
On this morning, Jake and Rebecca Haro were taken into custody at their home in Cabazon by detectives from the Sheriff’s Homicide Unit and Special Operations Division, due to accusations of murder (PC 187). The authorities shared this information on Instagram on the day of the arrest. A follow-up post was made the next day, stating that upon examination of the evidence, it appears no kidnapping incident had occurred in Yucaipa. However, it is assumed that Emmauel has passed away, and efforts are currently underway to locate his remains.
Despite their arrest, both parents maintained their innocence.
Rebecca expressed to a reporter from the Southern California News Group (as reported by the Press-Enterprise), that she won’t abandon her hopes for her child. In simpler terms, she declared her determination not to give up on her baby.
Speaking as a lifestyle advisor, I’d like to address a matter that recently re-emerged. In 2021, Jake faced an unfortunate accusation of child endangerment, which he admitted guilt to in 2023. However, in the same interview where this resurfaced, Rebecca firmly stated, “He would never inflict harm on a newborn.
During a press conference held on August 27, 2025, Mike Herstin, who is a district attorney in California, shared information about the alleged mistreatment suffered by Emmanuel, which had been discovered by authorities.
According to the evidence, little Emmanuel suffered persistent mistreatment that tragically led to his demise. Our office is dedicated to pursuing justice on his behalf, so that his brief life remains remembered.
According to a complaint submitted by prosecutors on August 27, 2025 (and obtained by TopMob News), it was written that Emmanuel is believed to have died between August 5 and August 14, 2025, in the County of Riverside, California. During this timeframe, it is alleged that the defendants intentionally and unlawfully took Emmanuel’s life through murder.
As I reflect on the timeline provided, it seems that at least nine days had passed since I believed Emmanuel might have been taken, long enough for him to pass away, prior to Rebecca reporting his supposed abduction.
During an interview with The Orange County Register on August 27, 2025, Jake firmly stated that the accusations Herstin had made during the press conference regarding his son’s disappearance were completely unfounded.
Instead of speaking more about his son’s disappearance, the father (who has a young daughter with Rebecca as well) chose to remain silent, following advice from his lawyer.
He emphasized, “God is by our side.” He continued, “The accusations are shocking, which naturally causes a stir among people.
He noted that if he could tell his son one thing, it would be, “I love you, buddy.”
