In Monday’s Emmerdale (October 20th), Robert Sugden, played by Ryan Hawley, finds his hidden second life becoming increasingly difficult to manage.
Robert and Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) have been reconnecting, spending nights together at Aaron’s place, and things were starting to feel comfortable and settled between the ex-couple.
Robert’s husband, Kev Townsend, played by Chris Coghill, has recently gotten out of prison, and Aaron is unaware of him.
Robert gets concerned when he comes back to the cottage and sees Kev talking to Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins).
When another major lie of Robert’s, this time to Kev, comes to light, Vic questions her brother.
Once Victoria understood his unbelievable story, she told Robert to be truthful with Aaron again.
We still don’t understand why Robert and Kev lied, and it’s only made their relationship even more puzzling.
Robert then introduces Kev to Claudette and Charles Anderson, the people he’ll be living with while participating in the prison outreach program.
Okay, so when Kev and Aaron finally meet up outside the café, things go totally sideways. Robert just *freaks* out, and honestly, the way the director shows it – this quick, funny shot of him trying to hide – is gold. It’s a really comical moment, especially considering he’s the one who caused all the drama in the first place!
Then Robert lies to Aaron that Kev is just a friend and his ex-cellmate.
Talking to Kev helps Robert maintain his focus and keep everything running smoothly, but Aaron is starting to notice Robert seems preoccupied and is becoming suspicious.
With Aaron set to catch Robert kissing Kev later in the week, how on earth will he react?
And will we find out more about Robert’s history with his spouse?
