Emmerdale airs major exit as fan favourite commits the ultimate sacrifice to save Bear Wolf in early ITVX release

In Emmerdale, someone surprisingly confessed to the murder of Ray Walters (Joe Absolom) in an attempt to prevent Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) from going to prison for life.

They then ran off into the night, attempting to avoid the consequences themselves.

In early January, Bear attacked Ray, and his family has since been working to demonstrate it was self-defense. However, recently, Bear confessed to Detective Sergeant Walsh (Amanda Ryan) that he deliberately killed Ray.

The detective realized the suspect couldn’t have committed the crime by himself, because the suspect couldn’t tie the complicated knot used on the victim. Facing overwhelming evidence, he felt completely trapped.

He believed this would also assist Paddy Dingle (Dominic Brunt) and Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle), who had been arrested for interfering with the legal process.

Honestly, I was really rooting for Aaron and Mandy this week! They came up with a plan to try and sort everything out with the Ray situation. Basically, they hoped Laurel would tell everyone that Ray was going to hurt Dylan, and that Bear only attacked because he was trying to defend him. It felt like their last shot at getting things back on track, and I was so hoping it would work!

She worried she might be discovered and charged with the same crime. Her son, Archie (played by Alfie Clarke), offered to cover for her, claiming he was one of the last people to see the victim and was willing to lie to the police about it.

Paddy and Dylan were released from custody today, but they were puzzled by Mandy not being there with them. Meanwhile, Laurel was searching for Arthur and discovered, using a phone app, that he was at the Hotten Police Station.

The group hurried over to intervene, and were happy to find that Arthur had decided against talking to the police.

Mandy still hoped he would go through with it, but Paddy and Dylan insisted they let the legal process take its course. They believed he needed to accept whatever punishment followed.

A major fight erupted, and Dylan, having grown up in a difficult family situation, blamed himself for the family’s distress. He’d brought Ray into the village and felt that if he’d said something earlier, the problems might have been avoided.

That night, after mailing a letter, Dylan packed his things and got ready to leave town. He called his girlfriend, April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan), to tell her he’d written a confession and was fleeing to avoid being arrested.

April pleaded with him to remain, but he was firm in his decision to leave, feeling he’d already caused enough trouble.

Is this the end of Dylan’s time in Emmerdale?
