Emmerdale airs shock blackmail twist in ITVX release – and finally resolves major mystery

John fled the country by threatening Caleb Miligan. He told Caleb to drive him away, or he would reveal where Anthony Fox’s body was hidden and implicate Caleb’s wife, Ruby, in the crime.

Just before disappearing, John told Caleb where he’d hidden the body. Meanwhile, Cain Dingle was desperately trying to catch up, having been stopped from getting revenge for his son Nate’s death.

After Caleb made his choice, he went back to Mill Cottage and found Cain waiting for him, furious about what had happened.

Cain is deeply hurt that his half-brother is siding with John, and Ruby is scared to interrupt their conversation. Cain tends to react quickly, and this time, he’s clearly in control of the situation.

Ruby was shocked to learn what happened to John, and then Caleb revealed that John had told him Anthony’s location.

Of course, they can’t be sure if John has been honest – and there’s only one way to find out.

After months of John falsely claiming to know where Anthony was buried, the truth about this long-standing mystery is finally coming out.

But what about Cain? Is he willing to let things drop with John?

News of Anthony’s murder reached the other people involved, and they have different opinions about what Caleb did.

Caleb will quickly have bigger problems, as someone discovers he helped John and confronts him about it.
