Emmerdale confirms former EastEnders villain actor is joining the soap as a mysterious new character

Actor Chris Coghill, previously known for his role in EastEnders, is now part of the Emmerdale cast, taking on a role shrouded in mystery.

Coghill gained recognition for portraying the character Tony King, the person who mistreated Whitney Dean (played by Shona McGarty) during childhood, on the BBC series from 2008 to 2009.

In the ITV soap, the star is set to play Kev, who arrives in the village looking for directions.

However, as of now, there are no indications about the person Kev is searching for or his motives. Therefore, it’s uncertain if Coghill will assume a villainous character again, or if he’ll play a noble character in this instance.

Discussing the new addition to the cast, Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw expressed her excitement, saying, “We’re thrilled to have a talented actor like Chris on board with us.

She expressed her belief that the audience will find it captivating to watch as the character Kev creates ripples or intense reactions this fall.

It’s clear that Kevin feels deeply tied to one of our characters, and his unexpected appearance could turn out to be quite a shock with significant consequences for several villagers.

Is there any connection between Kev, or could he possibly be associated with the newly introduced character Ray (Joe Absolom), who has just entered the soap scene playing a villainous role?

Or are we looking in entirely the wrong direction?

Though it remains to be seen what type of character Kev turns out to be, Coghill expressed his delight about becoming part of the Emmerdale cast. He hinted that Kev will undoubtedly stir things up a bit, and he can’t wait to dive right in!

As well as EastEnders, the actor’s credits include The Bay, Slow Horses and Shameless.

Kev’s first appearance on Emmerdale will air in late September.
