
While Corriedale was full of turmoil, Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) experienced a more subdued and serious moment.
The popular Emmerdale character found himself in the middle of the action during the special crossover episode while searching for the villainous John Sugden, played by Oliver Farnworth.
During an argument between John and Robert Sugden, a shotgun went off and Cain was accidentally shot in the stomach.
Later in the episode, as Cain was recovering from being shot – thankfully not fatally – the doctor delivered some really heavy news. During the scan to assess the gunshot wound, they discovered he’s also battling cancer. It was a gut-punch moment, honestly, and completely shifted the emotional weight of the scene.

To make matters even worse, Moira will be arrested for human trafficking around the same time her husband receives a serious diagnosis. This will put a tremendous strain on their already complicated marriage as they both struggle with difficult circumstances.
Fans will also recall Moira (Natalie J Robb) suffered with her own terrible diagnosis in 2025.
She received a diagnosis of meningioma, a non-cancerous tumor in the brain. This caused a range of symptoms, including memory problems, shifts in her personality, confusion, and seizures.
This year on Emmerdale, viewers can anticipate drama as the shocking return of Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) – previously thought to be dead – causes ripples throughout the village.
Now that Bear, Ray, and John have all died, the residents of Emmerdale are likely to come under intense scrutiny from the police.
