Emmerdale has kicked off the week with the death of villainous Ray Walters (Joe Absolom).
Considering how many enemies he had in the village, it wasn’t surprising that he eventually died.
For months, a criminal had been blackmailing April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) because she’d revealed to her family that Ray and his mother, Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths), had involved her in a drug operation.
They mistakenly believe April is a murderer because Ray tricked her into thinking she had killed a man who paid him for a sexual encounter.

The pair were also running a farm where they forced people to work against their will, including a man named Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards). When Ray discovered Celia had killed Bear and she urged them to leave, he stabbed her in the back with a knife.
He immediately went to tell Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) that they were finally free from Celia and could be together. Unfortunately, Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle) had already revealed his true character, and Laurel didn’t want anything to do with him.

The day started with a feeling that something unexpected was about to happen—maybe even a surprise appearance from Coronation Street! While everyone prepared for the day, a grim discovery was made on the edge of the village: Ray’s body was being pulled along the ground.
Mackenzie Boyd was furious with Charity Dingle and insisted she get in his car so he could confront her about a secret involving their baby. Meanwhile, Aaron Dingle held John Sugden at gunpoint, forcing him to drive to the police station and turn himself in.

Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry), April’s stepmother, made a strange phone call, asking the person on the other end if they had completed their work and requesting they call her back.
Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) was acting strangely too, telling people he’d been searching for April earlier that day.
Okay, so here’s the deal – last week, things got seriously intense. There was a huge fight between Ray and this woman in the woods, and he actually tried to kill her. But, get this, he had a change of heart, felt awful about everything he’d done, and let her go. The only condition? She had to disappear and start a new life far, far away.

While April was away, she apparently spent time with Ross Barton, who asked her to keep their meeting and what happened between them a secret.
The final suspect was Laurel, who was seen cleaning a pair of scissors.
Now that April, Rhona, Marlon, Ross, and Laurel have been identified as possible suspects, the big questions are: who killed Ray, and what actually happened?
Corriedale airs on ITV1 and ITVX at 8pm on Monday, 5th January.
