An upcoming episode of Emmerdale will connect several storylines as secrets from Dawn Fletcher’s (Olivia Bromley) difficult past are revealed. This will happen while April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) finds herself in growing danger.
This Friday, October 17th’s episode will be especially moving as Dawn shares her difficult past with Joe Tate, revealing she was forced into sex work and battled drug addiction.
This week on the show, April finds herself in a dangerous situation when she’s held captive in a hotel room by someone connected to Ray Walters. This comes after April started selling drugs for Ray, and a recent scare involving her half-brother, Leo, who ended up in the hospital after accidentally taking some of the pills she’d left at home.
Given how much Dawn’s history mirrors April’s current situation, it makes sense that their stories will connect in next week’s Emmerdale episode.
Before the discussion, Bromley acknowledged the topic was sensitive. Regarding whether her character, Dawn, would help April, the actress explained to Digital Spy that she believes Dawn would immediately want to protect April and urge her to leave, drawing on her own personal experiences.
She went on to say that despite having a great family, a stable home, and being in school, this young person still ended up facing difficulties. It’s surprising how children can be exposed to negative influences, because you assume they’re protected.
Dawn explained to Joe that her past decisions were driven by both difficult circumstances and manipulation she experienced as a child by someone she trusted. This early influence drastically altered the course of her life, and we’re now beginning to understand how similar patterns are affecting April.
Whether Dawn will assist April remains to be seen. Hopefully, April receives the help she needs quickly and can break free from Ray’s control.
