Emmerdale tipped to bring back iconic villain 20 years after explosive exit for dramatic storyline

This would be huge…

Emmerdale star Patsy Kensit is being tipped for a return to the show 20 years after she left.

The actress portrayed the character of Sadie King, a villain on the ITV soap opera, for two years from 2004 to 2006.

The Sun reports that the actor will reprise their role in a compelling story arc later this year.

According to a source, the network has been keeping Patsy’s return a closely guarded secret, hoping to surprise and excite viewers.

“She is apparently delighted to be get her teeth back into the meaty role.”

The source explained that the writers are aiming to maintain the show’s popularity by creating dramatic storylines and characters that spark debate.

Sadie made her first appearance on Emmerdale in 2004 as Jimmy King’s (Nick Miles) glamorous and manipulative wife, famously arriving by helicopter.

Over the years, she played a central role in many major plotlines, notably a long-running conflict with Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins), who became her father-in-law’s new partner.

She became caught up in a plan to get revenge on Jimmy and his family after their relationship fell apart. This also involved a complicated romance with Jimmy’s brother, Matthew King, and a dangerous scheme where she and her partner, Cain Dingle, kidnapped Matthew’s father, Tom King, and demanded money for his release.

Ultimately, the plot led to Sadie leaving the show in 2006. Cain betrayed her by stealing the ransom money intended for the Kings, leaving her with nothing.

Kensit quickly became a popular character thanks to her engaging storylines and strong personality, earning her awards from Inside Soap in both 2005 and 2006.

After leaving Emmerdale, the actress continued her career with roles in Holby City, where she played the enigmatic Nurse Faye Morton, and later in EastEnders as Emma Harding, the long-lost mother of Lola Pearce.

If Sadie came back, it would reveal a complicated romantic past. She’s been involved with Jimmy and Cain, and also had a short relationship with Robert Sugden – both with Karl Davies and later with Ryan Hawley playing the role.

Sadie’s main rival is Charity Dingle, a well-known face around the village. Sadie also doesn’t get along with any of the other Dingles, including Chas Dingle (played by Lucy Pargeter).

Adding to this, Sadie has a troubled past with the Tate family. She previously pressured Zoe Tate into transferring ownership of Home Farm to the Kings, which resulted in Joe Tate losing the place where he grew up.

Sadie never crossed paths with Kim Tate (Claire King), but that would be a battle for the ages!

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and from 7am on ITVX.
