The Dingle family is facing hard times in Emmerdale, and Sarah Sugden is determined to help her grandfather, Cain, avoid even more trouble.
Things are incredibly tough for him right now. His wife, Moira, is in prison, wrongly accused of murder, and they’ve lost half their farm to the manipulative Joe Tate. On top of that, there’s a tuberculosis outbreak, and he’s recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer that requires surgery.
The deal is on the verge of collapsing, and Sarah, in desperation, suggested he steal some motors to quickly raise money.
At first, Cain didn’t want to participate, but he was eventually talked into the plan. Things became even more complicated when Sarah, the only one who knows about his medical condition, demanded to be involved in the theft as well.
Once Cain understood he had more at stake than the other person, and considering his granddaughter wasn’t used to getting into trouble, he told her to stop. However, the urge to get back in the car and drive away quickly is incredibly strong…
Today on the show, Jacob Gallagher (played by Joe-Warren Plant) wanted to reconnect with his wife. He’d noticed they hadn’t been as close lately and thought it was because he’d been busy with his medical studies.
I finally figured out why she’d been spending so much time at Butler’s Farm. I had no idea she was actually working with Cain, trying to get more stolen cars! It’s shocking to think about now.

Worried about how a possible tuberculosis outbreak could destroy her family’s financial stability, she noticed a shiny blue sports car parked near the village hall. She saw it as a chance to finally impress Cain.
I was completely on the edge of my seat when she slid into the driver’s seat! Then, Jacob suddenly appeared, clearly wanting answers. It quickly became clear – and Jacob was horrified to realize it – that the car belonged to his incredibly intimidating boss, Dr. Caitlin Todd, played brilliantly by Caroline Harker, and she was about to show up any second!
Sarah couldn’t explain what she’d done, and it upset her that she couldn’t share what was bothering her. She’d made a promise to Cain and felt she had to keep it, even if it risked her marriage.
Will she eventually come clean?
