Okay, so the Diving Helmet in Enshrouded… honestly, I didn’t think much of it at first. But trust me, once you start exploring with the new water update, you need this thing. It gives you a ton more time to breathe underwater, and it’s a total game-changer for actually being able to explore anything down there. I seriously wish I’d gotten it sooner!

The Dark’Dal Temple is challenging due to its tricky puzzles and a very long underwater section. Here’s the precise path I took to get the helmet without running out of air in the maze.
Get Ready Before You Go
While you can sometimes solve puzzles by simply trying everything, that won’t work here. You need to bring the right food, or you’ll run out of air before you reach the first safe spot. Anything that extends your breath-holding time will help (fish meals are generally the simplest choice). If you have the Seafood Grill, cooking a few dishes – Sushi is a particularly good option – will replenish your air supply.
Don’t forget to bring items to help with stamina! A Diver’s Endurance Flask is a great choice, and any food that restores stamina quickly will help you save time during long swims.
Finding the Dark’Dal Temple
Head to the Veilwater Base Ancient Spire and follow the coast towards Starfish Shores. You’ll find the Drak’Dal Temple in the middle of the river. Be aware that it’s guarded, so it’s best to defeat the enemies outside before approaching or climbing around.

Climb to the highest point of the ruined structure. You’ll find a hole in the roof you can use to enter the central room. Be prepared – a few enemies are waiting for you inside, so take care of them first before continuing.

A Fake Button and the Real Entrance
You’ll notice a button high up on the wall – it seems like it should unlock something, and it does, but that’s not the main entrance. Instead, turn around and look at the boxes in the corner. Those aren’t just for show. If you break them open, you’ll reveal a hidden opening in the floor that leads to a small room.
Lower yourself down, press the button in the secret room, and then climb back up into the main area. This activates the underwater passage you’ll need to take next.

A Shortcut That Might Get Patched
Currently, there’s a hidden spot with dirt near an oxygen bubble. You can dig through it to enter the maze quicker, but it might be a temporary glitch and could be removed in a future update. The rest of this guide will focus on the normal way to play.
Puzzle Two: The First Long Dive
Return to the main hall and shoot an arrow at the button that opens the way to the underwater area. You’ll need to activate this button to continue.

Make sure you’ve eaten something to give you energy before you dive. When you’re prepared, go underwater, press the button on the seafloor, and then swim straight back up to refill your oxygen tank.
Longer Path
Swim back down and head to your left. You’ll need to swim quickly to get to the button without any problems. Keep following the tunnel, and always turn left when you can – you’ll find the button that way.
Once you press the button, swim to the right, then left, and left again. You’ll find a spot above you where you can surface for air. Use this to rest and prepare for a longer swim ahead.
The Underwater Maze
Okay, so this next part is really tricky and you’re going to be racing against the clock, even if you’ve got some good food buffs helping you out. What I usually do is swim straight for that next button – you can’t miss it – and hit it. Then, quickly swim back to the starting point to reset your oxygen if you need to, but honestly, with good food, you might not even have to! After that, just dive right into the maze and try to solve it as fast as possible.

The course is surprisingly twisty, and it’s easy to lose time rounding each bend. Here’s a guide with video to help you navigate the best route, step by step.
- Once you dive in, go left and continue straight until you see glowing moss.
- You will turn right, then pass through this area.
- Go right out of the mossy area, and then turn left, followed by a sharp right.
- You should pass a gold gate on your right. Keep moving down the hallway and turn left.
- Follow it by making a right, and then a very sharp right in an area with some more glowing moss.
- Turn left in that area and proceed with a turn left.
- The tunnel will force you left. This is the last turn you will take.
- All you need to do now is go straight and up.
If you need a breath of air, surface completely to get it. Otherwise, the button you need is right in front of you as soon as you exit the tunnel. You’ve now overcome the most challenging section of the temple!
Tablet Room
You’ve made it through the hardest part! Now, keep swimming. If you see the button, turn left and look for a green light in the corner. Follow the light and you’ll find the Drak Relief VI tablet on the wall. If you’re collecting these tablets, get it now to avoid having to come back here later.

Trap Hall
Swim through the tunnel to the left, staying underwater. You’ll know you’re going the right way if you see glowing green moss. Be careful of spinning saw blades in this section. Here’s how to get through it, step by step:
- Swim straight, avoiding the first saw blade towards the bottom of the entrance.
- You will then come upon two saw blades at the top of the tunnel. Don’t try to swim in the gap between them. You need to swim between the branches on your right.
- Now, turn right and you will see the button to your right.
After clicking the button, continue along the path until you reach a clear area. Take a moment to rest there before continuing your search for the treasure.
Treasure Room and the Diving Helmet
Now that all the switches are on, the treasure room is accessible. Swim under the air bubble and turn left, following the path lit by the green moss. You’ll find a large pile of coins – and a treasure room! A body lies within the coins; search it to claim the Diving Helmet.
Wearing it instantly extends your underwater breathing time to nearly two minutes, even without eating anything. If you use oxygen meals with it, you can stay submerged long enough to explore almost everything the new update offers.
Is It Worth Doing?
Absolutely! Even if you don’t want to build an underwater base, the diving helmet is useful in almost any water-based activity. The puzzle to get it takes a bit of time, and the underwater maze can be tricky at first, but once you get the helmet, it’s yours forever – no materials or maintenance needed. So, get the Diving Helmet and start exploring what this new update has to offer!
