The Titans are up against an ancient foe who has reorganized a sinister group of villains with the intent to defeat them. Among the Titans’ roster of adversaries, none are more prominent than Slade Wilson, also known as Deathstroke the Terminator. Whether it’s using Terra as a mole within the Titans or attempting global domination during the Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths, Deathstroke has consistently faced defeat at the hands of the Titans. Determined to rectify past errors, Deathstroke is adopting a new strategy by recruiting various villains from across the DC Universe for one last showdown.
In this upcoming issue #25 of Titans, published by DC, John Layman, Pete Woods, and Wes Abbott take us on an exciting journey. Beast Boy serves as our guide through the 25th anniversary issue that finds the Titans squaring off against Deathstroke’s latest squad: the Crime Syndicate. This name has a significant history, particularly in relation to the malevolent counterpart of the Justice League from Earth-3. Accompanying Deathstroke and Terra in this group are Clock King, Killer Frost, Mammoth, and former Titan Vanadia. She was the newest member of the Titans, possessing the power to control electronics. Despite her initial desire to be a Titan, she now aims to bring them down.
Vanadium employs her abilities to compel Cyborg into attacking his comrades, causing Nightwing and Donna Troy to be sent sprawling by a powerful concussive blast. In the meantime, Terra and Beast Boy are reminiscing about old times. At one point, Beast Boy had romantic feelings for Terra when she was part of the Titans team, but those feelings have long since faded. As Terra is about to grab Beast Boy tightly, he transforms into a minuscule insect in order to escape her grasp.
For the 25th installment of Titans during DC’s All In period, it makes sense for them to engage in a battle against Deathstroke. The cover, designed by Pete Woods, depicts Deathstroke accompanied by Killer Frost and Terra, while the “Dark Reflections” title hints at Nightwing, Starfire, and Beast Boy positioned beneath the antagonists.
The description for Titans #25 goes like this: “Deathstroke the Terminator, instead of learning that crime doesn’t pay, has been busy assembling a new Crime Syndicate over the past few months, with the aim of exacting revenge on the Titans – fatally. Terra, Clock King, Killer Frost, and Mammoth are already formidable foes, but Deathstroke has a few more deadly surprises in store. Will the Titans emerge victorious? Who among them will suffer the consequences of their confrontation?
In the upcoming struggle between the Titans and Deathstroke, there’s a glimmer of hope that they may survive. This respite could come when they visit Beast Boy’s original family, the Doom Patrol. Yet, trouble never seems to stay away for long, and it appears both teams must unite to thwart Samuel Register, also known as the Zookeeper.
