Erin Bates isn’t in the clear quite yet after being released from the hospital.
Former *Bringing Up Bates* star, Michaela, has shared that she can no longer use her right leg. This happened after she experienced health problems following the birth of her seventh child, Henry, with her husband, Chad Paine.
I was so moved by what she shared on Instagram with Chad on September 13th. She admitted they’re still figuring things out, and she’s still working to regain use of her right leg. But even with everything going on, they’re focusing on the positive – and she specifically mentioned how grateful they are to be reunited. It’s such a beautiful way to look at things, and it really inspires me to do the same.
The 34-year-old added, “Your prayers have carried us through and mean the world to our family.”
Erin recently shared an update, including photos of her and her baby, showing Chad pushing her in a wheelchair while holding Henry. This comes almost two weeks after Chad announced that Erin had a serious seizure and was hospitalized in the ICU. She had developed a severe urinary tract infection and kidney infection shortly after giving birth, which led to septic shock.
Erin had been improving, but we’re now facing a difficult setback filled with worry and sadness,” Chad shared on Instagram on September 4th. He also mentioned their children-Carson, 10, Brooklyn, 8, Everly, 7, Holland, 5, Finley, 3, and William, 22 months-and explained that Erin is very weak and has been drifting in and out of consciousness for hours.
It’s been incredibly difficult watching my wife struggle with this,” he shared. “Being unable to help ease her pain is one of the hardest things I’ve ever gone through. I love her so much, and I can’t picture my life without her – she’s my best friend.
Erin recently expressed gratitude for her parents. On September 15th, she shared a video of her mother, Kathy, cooking and wrote on Instagram about how thankful she is to have her mom’s support during this time.

She didn’t reveal her diagnosis until 2025, when she shared on Instagram that she had been privately struggling with it for over ten years.
She explained that growing up, many of us are told to expect pain with our periods and to accept it as a normal part of womanhood. This often leaves us dealing with a common issue in silence and feeling isolated.
In July 2025, the actress from *Daisy Jones & The Six* revealed she’d been hospitalized for a hernia. This happened because she’d been wearing pants that were too tight, which caused a gap in her abdominal muscles.
Someone messaged Suki on X (formerly Twitter) asking why she hadn’t posted recently. Suki replied, jokingly suggesting the reason was a hernia she got six months ago from wearing very tight pants, and that she’d been afraid to mention it.
In April 2025, the former star of *Beverly Hills, 90210* shared that he was recovering from surgery to fix a nearly ruptured appendix.

“It’s been incredibly difficult,” Devine shared on the *In Depth With Graham Bensinger* podcast in 2025. “I experience spasms throughout my body, and doctors recently told me I was facing a life-threatening situation-within the past year, actually.”
He explained that his pain is intermittent, saying his body has some minor imperfections and isn’t quite functioning as it should.
Let me tell you, I recently had a really scary health experience. I ended up in the hospital because of some incredibly intense back pain. It actually got so bad during a road trip with a friend that I literally had to crawl on my hands and knees to get help – it was that debilitating!
He described a strange tingling sensation that still lingered in his legs as of March 2025, sharing this on his *Trading Secrets* podcast. To illustrate the extent of the issue, he mentioned that just a few weeks or a month prior, he’d been squatting nearly 300 pounds. Now, he couldn’t even manage a single squat or stand on one leg without falling, comparing the feeling to having had a stroke.
But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

In an Instagram post, she explained that she was accidentally shot in the face by someone at a party who fired a gun unsafely. Thankfully, @thebrendanrooney quickly helped, checked her over, and got her to the hospital. She was hit five times, and one bullet came dangerously close to her right eye – less than an inch away.
The former *Kim Possible* star shared that a small piece of something is stuck behind their eye. Doctors have advised against removing it with surgery right now, but they will keep a close watch on the situation. Thankfully, their vision is currently normal.

She urged everyone to cherish their loved ones and hug them whenever possible, as life is precious and unpredictable.
Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, even though it can be harsh, because it helped her discover a health issue. After noticing she looked “puffier” and facing criticism online, doctors began commenting on her interviews, suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome, a condition often linked to high cortisol levels or steroid injections. This prompted Amy to realize she’d received steroid injections after a breast reduction and C-section. She later learned she had a form of Cushing syndrome that would resolve on its own, and she’s relieved to be healthy. As she shared, receiving this diagnosis and knowing she would recover was fantastic news.
In December 2024, an AHL player suffered a skate cut during a game and needed 25 stitches to close the wound. After his son made a full recovery, New Jersey Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald told ESPN how relieved they were, saying, “We feel very lucky, and I wouldn’t want any parent to go through that.”
In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin. She suddenly developed stroke-like symptoms, initially unable to respond when Justin asked if she was okay. She then realized she couldn’t speak and the right side of her face began to droop.
Although the symptoms eventually subsided, Hailey went to the hospital where doctors discovered she’d had a small blood clot in her brain, which they identified as a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack).
Further testing at UCLA revealed Hailey had a hole in her heart, called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). Doctors determined the blood clot had traveled to her brain through this hole, causing the TIA.
Hailey successfully underwent a procedure to close the PFO and is now doing well.
The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition that caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the remaining dates of his Justice World Tour.
In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained the virus affected nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on one side. He also shared it was becoming increasingly difficult to eat.
Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey shared on *Good Morning America* that Justin was recovering well, calling the situation scary but assuring everyone he would be completely fine and was grateful he was on the mend.

In his 2024 Netflix special, *What Had Happened Was…*, he explained that he was suffering from a severe headache when he suddenly collapsed. He doesn’t remember the next 20 days.
Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, became worried and took him to the hospital. There, doctors discovered he’d had a brain bleed that led to a stroke.
Twenty days after surgery, on May 4th, Jamie woke up in a wheelchair unable to walk. He then went to Chicago to begin rehabilitation and therapy. He expressed his gratitude for the prayers he received, saying, “I needed every prayer.”
Oh my god, you will NOT believe this! She actually said she *died* while running the first challenge on the show! Like, literally said she ‘died’! I’ve watched everything she’s ever done, and this is a whole new level of drama! A mile, can you believe it? She ‘died’ running a mile on NBC! I’m obsessed!
It’s just… hearing her talk about it still gives me chills. She was on this show, *Fit for TV*, and she said she doesn’t remember much, just the sound of a helicopter. She described this feeling of floating, like she wasn’t even *in* her body anymore. And then, get this, she said her grandpa appeared! It sounds crazy, but she said he was *there*. After that, everything went black, but then… light. She was so certain, she *knew* she had died right then and there. It’s just… so powerful, knowing she experienced all of that. I’ve watched that clip a million times, and it still gets me every single time.
She explained that her organs were failing. She hadn’t known she had rhabdomyolysis, a condition where your body essentially begins to shut down.
Emilia Clarke, known for her role in *Game of Thrones*, revealed a harrowing health battle in a 2019 essay for *The New Yorker*. While filming the series, she experienced a severe headache at the gym, which quickly escalated. She described feeling violently ill and realizing something was seriously wrong with her brain.
A hospital scan revealed she had suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage – a life-threatening stroke caused by bleeding around the brain – resulting from a ruptured aneurysm. She underwent immediate surgery, which she described as incredibly painful. During her recovery, she experienced aphasia, leaving her unable to speak coherently.
Though she recovered and was discharged after a month, a 2013 scan revealed the aneurysm had grown and required a second surgery. This procedure failed, leading to a major bleed and a precarious situation. Doctors had to perform a more invasive surgery, accessing her brain directly through her skull.
Fortunately, Emilia reports that she has now made a full recovery and is at 100%.
Cori Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s daughter, recently shared how much she appreciates her family’s support after experiencing a stroke in January 2024. While she could have been discharged after the stroke, other health issues – including problems with her lupus and kidneys – required a longer hospital stay. Cori is now recovering well, saying she’s “doing great” and has been working to regain some motor skills. She’s thankful for her family’s quick response and ongoing support.
Shailene Woodley struggled with significant health issues throughout her 20s. In a September 2024 podcast interview, she explained that she experienced hearing loss, extreme fatigue – unable to walk for more than five minutes without needing hours of sleep – and constant stomach pain. She received multiple diagnoses from different doctors, leaving her confused and seeking answers.
Drawing on her background in herbalism and holistic health, Shailene sought help from both traditional doctors and alternative healers. This search for well-being lasted for ten years. She explained that the physical discomfort led to anxiety around food and eventually issues with body image and a sense of self.
Fortunately, after a long journey of addressing both her physical and mental health, Shailene is now feeling much better and considers herself very healthy. She expressed gratitude for her recovery.
