Battlestate Games has apologized for the technical problems players experienced with the 1.0 launch of Escape From Tarkov. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the game’s director, Nikita Buyanov, explained that they’re working to improve stability by adding more servers to handle the high player count. The team is also developing updates specifically to address and fix these issues.
Buyanov announced on X that they’re rapidly adding servers around the world because the existing ones are filling up quickly, which is causing longer wait times for players to find matches. They’re also working to resolve bugs and plan to continue improving and fixing the game over the coming months.
Buyanov also expressed gratitude to players for their continued interest and support of Escape From Tarkov. He admitted the game still contains some old bugs, remnants from its early alpha testing phase, that unfortunately made their way into the full 1.0 release.
We know the game launched with some issues, and we sincerely apologize. We’re committed to improving things and delivering a great experience for our dedicated players. While we fixed many problems before release, we still need to address performance issues, older code, and lingering bugs. We’re working hard to get everything running smoothly.
The developers have announced they’re working on technical fixes for Escape From Tarkov. These updates will address problems with downloading the game and EFT: Arena through both Steam and the BSG launcher, as well as errors (specifically error 228) when using traders, and incorrect lighting during trader interactions.
The game studio is asking players who use Nvidia Smooth Motion to turn it off temporarily, as it’s been causing problems when starting up Escape From Tarkov. As compensation, they’ll be giving all players a Bear Classic and USEC Night Patrol set soon. If you already own these items, you’ll receive an equivalent amount of in-game currency instead.
The developer acknowledged that players might be experiencing other issues not mentioned in the current list, and assured players that these will be fixed in future updates.
The full release of Escape From Tarkov on Steam didn’t go as smoothly as many hoped. Players have been reporting a lot of technical problems, leading to mostly negative feedback. Currently, Steam user reviews are mixed, with less than half (46%) of English-language reviewers giving the game a positive rating.
Buyanov has mentioned the possibility of bringing Escape From Tarkov to consoles. While nothing is official yet, the developers are probably working on simplifying the game’s interface and controls to work better with controllers.
