Euphoria season 3 release window finally confirmed – as surprising plot details revealed for Rue, Cassie and more

After a long wait, HBO has announced the premiere month for its hit show, Euphoria, and fans have reason to be excited.

Good news for fans! Season 3 of Euphoria is officially set to premiere in April 2026.

We don’t yet know if episodes will be released in the UK and US at the same time, but it’s likely, especially now that HBO Max is launching in the UK and Ireland next March.

At an HBO event in London, series creator Sam Levinson shared some new and surprising details about the future of popular characters like Rue and Cassie.

Levinson explained to Variety that a five-year time jump felt right because it would be around the time characters who went to college would likely graduate.

The story begins with Rue in Mexico, where she owes money to a woman named Laurie and is desperately trying to find creative solutions to repay her debt.

Regarding Sydney Sweeney’s character, Cassie, the creator hinted that she’s now living in the suburbs with Nate, they’re engaged, and she’s struggling with social media addiction. She’s also feeling jealous of what her former high school classmates seem to have achieved.

It’s probably a bit of an exaggeration to say fans have been eagerly awaiting a wedding between Cassie and Nate after the show’s ending. However, the creator, Levinson, has acknowledged the rumors sparked by photos of actress Sydney Sweeney on set wearing a wedding dress.

Season two took the relationship between these characters in a surprising direction. It was particularly unexpected considering Cassie and Maddy were once close friends, and Maddy had previously been in a high-profile relationship with Nate, which was a central part of the first season of Euphoria.

Continuing with a romantic storyline that many viewers disliked was a daring move, but it’s exactly the kind of thing we’d anticipate from the creator of The Idol.

Throughout the series, Cassie has often seemed insecure and unhappy with herself, so it’s unlikely her marriage to Nate will be smooth sailing. Combined with her habit of constantly being online, it’s easy to predict she’ll make more questionable choices. Whether those choices will be well-developed by the show’s creator remains to be seen.

When Jimmy Fallon asked about the third season of Euphoria, Sweeney said Cassie’s behavior would be even more extreme, describing her as “crazy” and hinting at a significant escalation in her actions.

Zendaya’s character, Rue, is facing new challenges. While fans might have hoped she’d be doing better after getting sober in season two, it appears the show’s creator, Levinson, has different plans for her in season three, and a stable Rue might not fit his vision.

Levinson shared some updates on what the characters are up to: Jules is now in art school, feeling anxious about becoming a professional painter and really trying to avoid adult responsibilities. Meanwhile, Maddy is working at a talent agency in Hollywood, but she’s also pursuing other opportunities on the side.

Lexi, played by Maude Apatow, works as an assistant to a showrunner portrayed by the wonderful Sharon Stone, who is a genuine icon.

Since the end of season 2, the stars of Euphoria have become even more popular, appearing in many recent films. Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Eric Dane, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, and Colman Domingo are all confirmed to return for season 3.

The second season will again feature Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, Martha Kelly, Chloe Cherry, Dominic Fike, and Nika King. Joining them are returning cast members Alanna Ubach, Daeg Faerch, Melvin Bonez Estes, Paula Marshall, Sophia Rose Wilson, and Zak Steiner.

The show is adding several new cast members, including Spanish singer Rosalía, YouTuber Trisha Paytas, and actors Natasha Lyonne, Danielle Deadwyler, Eli Roth, and Marshawn Lynch.

The cast also welcomes new members including Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Toby Wallace, Darrell Britt-Gibson, Kadeem Hardison, Priscilla Delgado, James Landry Hébert, Anna Van Patten, Asante Blackk, Bella Podaras, Bill Bodner, Cailyn Rice, Colleen Camp, and Gideon Adlon.

The new cast also includes Hemky Madera, Homer Gere, Jack Topalian, Jessica Blair Herman, Kwame Patterson, Madison Thompson, Matthew Willig, Rebecca Pidgeon, and Sam Trammell.
