It’s been six years since I last saw Evan Peters zipping around as Quicksilver in an *X-Men* film, and honestly, I’ve been hoping for a return ever since! I first fell in love with Pietro Maximoff way back in the comics – *The Uncanny X-Men* #4, to be exact – and Evan really brought him to life on screen in *X-Men: Days of Future Past* back in 2014. He played the role a couple more times, most recently in *Dark Phoenix* in 2019. Now, with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) constantly growing, Evan’s talked about how much he enjoyed playing Quicksilver and how he’d love to share the screen with Magneto again. As a huge fan, I’m keeping my fingers crossed!
Fans have been eager for Evan Peters to reprise his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe ever since his brief appearance in *WandaVision*. When asked by ComicBook if the constant speculation about his return as Quicksilver bothers him, Peters laughed and said, “No, actually. I’m curious…” He didn’t confirm any future plans, but admitted he’s considered what could happen next for the character and what he’d like to do with the role if he were to return.
I really enjoyed playing that character, and exploring his unusual personal life was a lot of fun. I think it would be interesting to delve deeper into that, and especially to see more of his relationship with Magneto. Hopefully that could happen, but we’ll see what the future holds.
Actor Evans recently spoke with Chris Killian about his role as Julian Dillinger in the upcoming film *Tron: Ares*. The complete interview is available below.
Now Is the Perfect Time for Peter Evans’ Return as Quicksilver
While Tobey Maguire isn’t scheduled to reappear in Marvel movies right now, the ever-growing Marvel multiverse creates a great opportunity for him to come back. Since the multiverse was introduced in the 2016 film *Doctor Strange*, the MCU has seen characters and storylines from different worlds connect and collide, resulting in huge, popular movies.
Following that, the Russo brothers’ *Avengers: Doomsday* is coming to theaters on December 18, 2026, and it’s expected to feature characters from the *X-Men* films. Patrick Stewart will reprise his role as Charles Xavier, alongside Ian McKellen as Magneto, James Marsden as Cyclops, and Rebecca Romijn as Mystique. *Avengers: Secret War*, planned for release on December 17, 2027, is also rumored to include familiar *X-Men* actors, potentially bringing Evan Peters back as Quicksilver.
With the Marvel Cinematic Universe exploring the stories of the X-Men and continuing to expand the multiverse, there’s a possibility Evan Peters could return as Quicksilver. Whether or not that happens remains to be seen, but fans can see Peters next in *Tron: Ares*, which comes out October 25th.
