Evangeline Lilly Breaks Down Brain Injury Treatment Plan

Evangeline Lilly isn’t lost in her road to recovery.

Following a head injury last year, the former Lost actress revealed she has brain damage and is undergoing treatment to improve its function.

In a recent Instagram video, Evangeline shared that she’s grateful to be able to prioritize her health without financial worries. She wants to share what she’s learning as she recovers from a concussion, hoping it might help others facing similar challenges.

The 46-year-old woman described her routine for improving brain health, which includes several supplements. These are N-acetyl cysteine (NAC), an antioxidant; creatine, an amino acid; resveratrol, an antioxidant from grape skins; curcumin, an anti-inflammatory derived from turmeric; and omega-3 fatty acids.

Let’s talk supplements! I definitely use a few, but I don’t believe in taking them forever. I approach it based on what I feel my body – and especially my brain – needs at any given time. I’ll stay on something as long as I think it’s beneficial, then I’ll cycle off and reassess. It’s all about listening to your body and giving it what it needs, when it needs it.

I’ve always admired Evangeline’s dedication to health. She’s told me she makes a real effort to eat a good, balanced diet, prioritizing getting all her vitamins and nutrients directly from the food she eats. It’s inspiring to see how much she focuses on that!

She also mentioned that supplements can be very helpful when your body needs a little extra support.

Oh my gosh, you won’t BELIEVE what happened with Evangeline Lily! She actually told everyone about what she’s been going through – it started back in May, and it’s just… shocking. Apparently, she fainted right on the beach in Hawaii, and poor thing, she totally fell face-first into a rock! I’ve been following her forever, and I’m so glad she’s finally sharing this with us, even if it’s scary.

“The past few months have been incredibly demanding,” she on Substack wrote at the time. “My blackout and resulting injuries forced me to drop everything. I was forced into stillness.”

Since the incident, Evangeline said she’s experienced a “cognitive decline.”

In a video posted on Instagram on January 2nd, she revealed that scans showed widespread brain damage, explaining that almost all areas of her brain are not working as well as they should be.

Evangeline explained that she needs to work with the doctors to understand what’s going on, and then focus on finding a solution.

He acknowledged that his pain is intermittent, explaining that his body has some minor imperfections and doesn’t always function as expected.

The reality TV star revealed he had to crawl to the hospital because of severe back pain that worsened during a road trip with a friend.

I was really shocked listening to his podcast in March 2025. He described how his knees still felt tingly, which is just wild! He put it in perspective by saying that just a few weeks before, he was squatting almost 300 pounds. But now? He can barely stand on one foot, let alone squat! He said he falls over if he tries a single-leg squat and honestly, he even compared it to having a stroke – it sounds really scary and debilitating.

But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, despite its downsides, because it helped her discover a health issue. After noticing she looked “puffier” during interviews, she was surprised when doctors began commenting online, concerned she might have Cushing syndrome. They pointed out changes in her face and suggested it could be caused by high cortisol levels or steroid injections. This prompted Amy to realize she had received steroid injections after a breast reduction and C-section. She later learned she had a form of Cushing syndrome that would resolve on its own, and she was incredibly relieved to receive a good diagnosis. As she shared, finding out she was healthy was the best news she could have hoped for.

In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin Bieber. She suddenly developed stroke-like symptoms, initially unable to respond when Justin asked if she was okay. She then realized she couldn’t speak and the right side of her face began to droop.

Although the symptoms eventually subsided, Hailey went to the hospital where tests revealed she had experienced a TIA, or transient ischemic attack, caused by a small blood clot in her brain. Further investigation at UCLA discovered she had a patent foramen ovale (PFO), a hole in her heart.

Doctors determined the blood clot had traveled through the PFO and to her brain, causing the TIA. Hailey successfully underwent a procedure to close the hole in her heart and is now recovering well.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the remaining dates of his Justice World Tour.

In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained the condition affected the nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on the affected side. He also shared that it had become increasingly difficult for him to eat.

Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey shared on Good Morning America that Justin was recovering well, and while the situation had been frightening, he was expected to make a full recovery. She expressed her gratitude that he was doing okay.

He explained that while in Atlanta, he suffered a severe headache and asked for aspirin. Before he could take it, he lost consciousness and doesn’t remember the next 20 days.

Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, became worried and took him to the hospital. There, doctors discovered he had a brain bleed that resulted in a stroke.

After surgery, Jamie woke up in a wheelchair on May 4th, unable to walk. He then traveled to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy. He expressed deep gratitude for the prayers he received, saying he needed them all.

While filming the series, she experienced a sudden, severe headache while at the gym. She described collapsing and being violently ill, realizing something was seriously wrong with her brain.

A hospital scan quickly revealed a subarachnoid hemorrhage – a life-threatening stroke caused by bleeding around the brain – resulting from a ruptured aneurysm. She underwent immediate surgery, which she described as incredibly painful. During recovery, she temporarily lost her ability to speak, often muttering nonsensical words.

Though she recovered and was discharged after a month, a 2013 scan revealed the aneurysm had doubled in size, requiring a second surgery. This procedure initially failed, causing a major bleed and putting her life at risk. Doctors had to perform a more invasive surgery, accessing her brain directly through her skull.

Fortunately, Emilia says she has now made a full recovery and is at 100%.

She shared with Will Marfuggi from TopMob News that she actually texted her family, sent a picture, and they all rushed to her side – it’s just so heartwarming! It wasn’t just the stroke either; she’s also been dealing with lupus and her kidneys were failing, so she ended up having a longer hospital stay than expected. But she says she’s doing great now! She had to work on getting her motor skills back, but honestly, after everything she’s been through, it’s amazing she’s doing as well as she is. I’m just so happy for her and her family!

Shailene Woodley struggled with significant health issues throughout her 20s. In a September 2024 podcast interview, she described a time when she was losing her hearing, unable to walk for more than a few minutes without needing hours of rest, and experiencing constant stomach pain. She faced a confusing array of diagnoses from different doctors. Determined to find answers, Woodley, who has a background in herbalism, sought help from both traditional doctors and alternative healers. This search for wellness lasted for a decade. The physical discomfort led to anxiety around food and, eventually, struggles with body image and identity. Thankfully, after years of addressing both her physical and mental health, Woodley is now healthy and feeling good. She’s happy to share that the issues have resolved themselves.
