Just a heads-up: if you’re not caught up with the Black Clover manga, this article will spoil things! I’ve been following Yuki Tabata’s Black Clover for over ten years, and it really feels like we’re nearing the end. The story entered its final arc back in 2022, and now new chapters appear in Jump GIGA a few times a year. While we don’t get chapters as often as we used to with Weekly Shonen Jump, it’s worth the wait. The colored pages are gorgeous, the plot is full of surprises, and the artwork is just breathtaking as the final battle against the villain, Lucius Zogratis, unfolds.
The manga will be back with three new chapters on January 5th, 2026, in the Winter 2026 Jump GIGA issue. The magazine says the story is entering its final stage, suggesting it will conclude sometime in 2026. The anime is also planned to return next year, probably around the time the manga ends. The anime adaptation by Studio Pierrot stopped before it could show the main events of the popular Spade Kingdom Arc. With all these developments, an important detail about a key character has been missed.
Black Clover Still Hasn’t Introduced Asta’s Father

The story centers around Asta, a boy born without any magical ability in a world where everyone else possesses mana. Because magic is so central to daily life and social standing, Asta feels like an outcast. It’s later revealed that his mother accidentally took away his magic before leaving him at an orphanage, where he grew up alongside Yuno and other children. The truth about Asta’s mother, Licita, wasn’t revealed until several years into the series, coinciding with a major crisis when the Magic Knights suffered heavy losses from the Zogratis brothers’ attack.
Despite the manga nearing its conclusion, the story hasn’t addressed the protagonist’s father – we still don’t know if he’s alive. Flashbacks have shown the mother, Licita, completely alone, which explains her decision to leave her son at an orphanage rather than risk his safety with her. She lived in isolation due to a dangerous ability that permanently drained people’s magical energy. The circumstances of how she met the father, given her avoidance of others, remains an unresolved plot point that needs to be explained before the series ends.
