On Wednesday, the newest Netflix sensation takes center stage, reviving cherished characters for a myriad of fresh and peculiar journeys. The show centers around Wednesday Addams, the child of the iconic Addams Family. Unsurprisingly, while the narrative primarily revolves around our titular character, numerous members of her family have been part of the ride. Season 2, Part 1 contrives some clever reasons to reunite the family, this time on the grounds of Nevermore Academy. This sparked a question: among all the characters in the Addams Family (as depicted in Wednesday), who is the most perilous?
It’s accurate to say that any member of the Addams Family tends to pose a greater challenge than an average person can handle. Surprisingly, even those who seem reluctant to fight have shown they are capable of taking extreme measures when it comes to protecting themselves. However, it wouldn’t be fair to assume that all family members shy away from causing harm; some have fully adopted the violent aspect of Addams Family living.
On Wednesdays, the show presents a fresh, contemporary interpretation of the conventional family dynamic. It’s evident that the series isn’t shy about exploring innovative paths for its primary characters. As Wednesday’s powers unfold, Thing sports a new mark, and there’s an intriguing mystery surrounding Ophelia Frump’s destiny. Here’s our take on who among the family members exhibits the most lethality.
In the show set on Wednesdays, we see a contemporary reimagining of the traditional family structure. It’s apparent that the series isn’t afraid to venture off in unique directions for its main characters. As Wednesday’s abilities grow, Thing now bears a new mark, and there’s a puzzling question about Ophelia Frump’s survival. Here are our thoughts on who within the family demonstrates the most dangerous traits.
9) Grandmama Hester Frump
In simpler terms, Morticia Addams’ mother is none other than Grandmama Hester Frump. Though she joined the family through marriage, for our discussion, we consider her part of the Addams clan. She is a woman shrouded in mystery, always guarding her secrets closely.
On Wednesday, the character Grandmama Hester Frump, played by Joanna Lumley, is a well-dressed and affluent businesswoman. She’s a powerful tycoon with significant influence over the death industry, particularly mortuaries. It appears she isn’t very close to her daughter, yet she seems content without this connection. She wields her wealth as a weapon, even purchasing an entire cemetery for Wednesday’s needs, finding pleasure in the discomfort it causes Morticia.
8) Thing
It’s worth mentioning that another cherished character from the Addams Family circle is well-known for their spy background, initially assigned to keep an eye on Wednesday. Over time, fans have been introduced to this figure quite extensively. Nowadays, this character serves as Wednesday’s trusted ally, yet often finds themselves in uncomfortable positions, especially given that Morticia has become more frequent in their company.
In my humble opinion as a movie enthusiast, the character of Thing, brilliantly brought to life by Victor Dorobantu, is nothing short of remarkable. He’s agile, cunning, and possesses an array of skills that include disarming locks, silencing alarms, and holding his own against some formidable adversaries, such as serial killers.
However, it must be said that the family seems to rely on Thing a bit too heavily at times. Yet, there’s one character who not only recognizes Thing’s worth but also cherishes him for his unique qualities – Enid.
7) Lurch
Lurch is a classic character in every Addams Family production, but it’s true that he hasn’t had much screen time in the show Wednesday. He was scarcely noticeable during Season 1, but since then, he’s been appearing more frequently as the family embarks on their adventures in Season 2. In essence, we’re seeing him more often now.
Lurch, played by George Burcea in Season 1 and Joonas Suotamo in Season 2, is a tall family member of the Addams household. He’s not particularly chatty, but his physical prowess leaves no room for doubt, showcasing impressive displays of strength.
6) Gomez Addams
Gomez Addams is the cherished patriarch of the Addams Family, a devoted husband to Morticia Addams, and the loving father of Wednesday and Pugsley. His ardor knows no bounds, particularly towards his family and his brother. He’s an incredibly affectionate individual, even though his concept of love and care might appear unconventional compared to typical expectations.
In the series ‘Wednesday’, Luis Guzmán plays Gomez as a warm and self-assured character. Interestingly, he’s been vocal about his supposed lack of powers (which may hint at a future plot twist). However, it’s reasonable to assume that he remains an adept swordsman with an erratic side. It wouldn’t be wise to interfere with him and his family.
It might come as a shock to find Gomez Addams lower down on this list, but it’s important to consider that the Netflix portrayal of Gomez Addams appears to shun the same criminal antics his brother embraces so wholeheartedly. Though he sacrificed himself to shield his spouse, even Wednesday admitted that Gomez was not cut out for prison life.
5) Pugsley Addams
As a follower of the series, I was a bit of a secondary character in Wednesday’s Season 1, but in Season 2, Part 1, I’ve been given more opportunities to shine. In the first season, you saw a timid child who relied on my big sister for protection against the typical school bullies. However, in Season 2, we’re witnessing a transformation, as I’m discovering and embracing my unique powers.
It’s likely beneficial for Pugsley, played by Isaac Ordonez, to attend Nevermore Academy now, as he can find a more welcoming environment that accepts him for who he is. Despite still having much growth ahead of him, his unique passions have already caused quite a commotion at school, such as his decision to keep a zombie as a pet. Unintentionally, this action has already had significant consequences.
In the series “Wednesday,” Pugsley Addams displays an electrical ability akin to his uncle. His precision may need refining, but Wednesday’s persistence has propelled him to make swift improvements. So far, this power has left friends stunned and even brought back some peculiar personalities.
4) Wednesday Addams
On the small screen, Jenna Ortega’s portrayal of Wednesday Addams has surpassed audience assumptions. This somber character might shun color, but her fascination with the enigmatic and cryptic is undeniable. It appears that her favorite mystery lies in serial killers, though she’s found herself in predicaments requiring aid on occasion. Nonetheless, we have faith that Wednesday can manage most situations independently.
As I sat down in the dimly lit theater, Wednesday’s enigmatic presence immediately captivated me. Her intelligence and cunning are undeniable, but it’s her emotional detachment that sets her apart, making her a character to both fear and admire. This peculiar blend becomes particularly menacing once she locks onto her objectives. The movie follows her on a thrilling journey where she combats monstrous creatures, unravels intricate mysteries, and holds steadfast to her conviction that she has finally harnessed her psychic abilities – though it’s clear that there are many more twists and turns in store for this fascinating character.
3) Morticia Addams
In simpler terms, Morticia Addams initially joined the Addams Family through marriage, as she was born a Frump. Yet, it’s undeniable that she possesses a distinctive aura of power. Different portrayals highlight various talents and abilities attributed to Morticia. For instance, in the Netflix series, Morticia demonstrates strong psychic powers and exceptional sword-fighting skills. Furthermore, she plays an essential role in maintaining the harmony within the Addams Family household.
Certainly, in more conversational terms: Morticia Addams, portrayed by Catherine Zeta-Jones, has shown reluctance towards taking human lives, but she’s still deeply upset and disgusted by her school experiences. Exploring her past with Wednesday offers some relief or release from those painful memories.
It’s risky to undervalue Morticia Addams; though she might not readily engage in deadly actions, her sword fight with Wednesday demonstrates that she possesses the skills and determination needed, particularly when it comes to safeguarding her own possessions.
2) Fester Addams
Uncle Fester, a beloved character, seems unlikely to lose his popularity anytime soon. His inherent unpredictability, complemented by an eccentric, immortal flair, adds an enjoyable twist. For the children, he’s more than just entertaining; he’s also a loving uncle who is ready to go above and beyond to secure happiness and safety for his family.
As a film enthusiast, I couldn’t help but notice how brilliantly Fred Armisen embodied Uncle Fester on Wednesday, fully embracing the eccentric character type he’s known for. His electrical abilities, historically rooted in static energy, are given a fresh spin in the Netflix series, with an emphasis on Fester’s occult knowledge that allows him to swiftly identify mysterious beings like Hyde.
What truly sets him apart, however, is his dual role as both a master criminal and a loyal family member. He’s capable of pulling off daring bank heists and slipping away unnoticed (when it suits him), which adds an extra layer of unpredictability to his character. This versatile skillset makes him potentially formidable, especially when he’s called upon to covertly infiltrate specific locations at the behest of his niece.
1) Goody Addams
Goody Addams, an ancestor who’s already passed away, shares a striking resemblance with Wednesday Addams that could make them appear like twins. Goody Addams possesses immense magical abilities and has extensive knowledge about the mystical world. She entered Wednesday’s life as a mentor, but it’s unclear how much assistance she provided because her ongoing feud with Joseph Crackstone seems to have instigated many of the problems they face.
Jenna Ortega portrays Goody Addams, a character who hasn’t made many appearances in Season 2. Considering the immense power she wields, it’s probably best she’s not around too much. Goody is the author of the spell book that Wednesday is fascinated with. Moreover, she has the ability to possess others and capture souls at will. Even though she may be absent, Goody Addams is undoubtedly one of the most powerful characters in The Addams Family, a fact that speaks volumes. In the context of the Netflix series, she’s the strongest character so far introduced, which likely explains why she’s been shown sparingly. Her presence significantly alters the power dynamics within the show.
Wednesday is available to stream on Netflix.
