This year promises to be fantastic for racing games, and it’s anticipated that _Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds_ will significantly contribute to this excitement. Although _Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds_ hasn’t been released yet, its potential popularity is evident, especially in a year filled with titles like _Mario Kart World_ and _Kirby Air Riders_. This game is set to be the _Super Smash Bros. Ultimate_ of Sonic racing games, meaning it will feature numerous crossovers from various gaming franchises. It boasts an array of Sonic characters, some even less known, as well as other iconic figures within the video game world. Here is a list of characters confirmed so far to appear in the game.

Sonic the Hedgehog

It’s entirely expected that Sonic appears in “Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds”. After all, he has been Sega’s mascot for an extended period and is undeniably one of the most recognized characters. His popularity can be compared to Mario in “Mario Kart”.

Tails the Fox

In addition to Sonic, the classic video game character known as Tails (or Miles Prower) – his loyal companion and friend – will also be part of the roster. Notably, he often navigates using a flying vehicle, similar to how he’s portrayed in the main games.

Knuckles the Echidna

In a predictable turn of events, Knuckles has solidified his position as a regular member of Team Sonic since his debut in “Sonic the Hedgehog 3”. Given his significant role, it’s only natural that he should feature in a game such as this.

Shadow the Hedgehog

In the game “Sonic Racing: Crossworlds,” you’ll find Shadow, a fan-favorite character known for his antagonistic role within the Sonic universe, making an appearance once more due to his significant popularity and affection among fans.

Amy Rose

Now could be an excellent opportunity for SEGA to expand Amy Rose’s presence. Given her significant role in the forthcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 4 movie, it’s not unexpected that she has been selected to join the team.

Eggman

Similar to how Mario and Bowser compete together in Mario Kart, Sonic and Eggman occasionally set aside their significant disagreements for a friendly race. That’s why you’ll find Eggman among the competitors in this game.

Espio the Chameleon

Espio, not as well-known compared to other Sonic characters, first appeared in the ’90s and has been part of the series since then. Unlike most of the characters who are either hedgehogs or echidnas, his unique species makes him quite distinctive within the roster.

Jet the Hawk

Just like many others, Jet the Hawk isn’t as widely recognized. Interestingly, Jet first appeared in Sonic Riders – a racing game from 2006. It’s quite appropriate that he returns in this new game.

E-123 Omega

One intriguing character from the Sonic universe is E-123 Omega. Originally crafted by Dr. Eggman, he now seeks retribution against his creator, making him a sort of anti-hero who has been added to the team in the game called CrossWorlds.

Big the Cat

Beyond the primary cast, Big the Cat has been a member of Team Sonic for more than two decades. He’s also one of the characters that make up the team in “Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.

Cream the Rabbit

In the upcoming version of the racing game, it has been announced that the beloved character, Cream the Rabbit, will once again be playable. However, there is no confirmation as to whether or not her Chao, affectionately known as Cheese, will make an appearance alongside her.

Sage

In more casual terms, Sage, who debuted as an antagonist in the video game Sonic Frontiers just a few years ago, has since become a key character in what appears to be the largest Sonic racing game to date.

Metal Sonic

Metal Sonic, a character who’s quite similar to Sonic’s darker counterpart, Shadow, in terms of popularity, is undoubtedly included in the lineup. It’s not at all unexpected that he might be among the characters used most frequently by players.

Vector the Crocodile

As a gamer, it’s been a while since I last saw Vector in a Sonic the Hedgehog game – the latest Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games was in 2021. But now, after a brief hiatus, he’s making his triumphant return; he was in Team Sonic Racing way back in 2019. So, it’s great to have him back in action!

Silver the Hedgehog

Similar to Shadow and Metal Sonic, Silver – another morally complex hedgehog – enjoys significant popularity, making it inevitable for Team Sonic to incorporate him into their extensive lineup.

Storm the Albatross

Just as Jet the Hawk made his initial appearance in Sonic Riders, it’s delightful to see another bird character, Storm the Albatross, returning to a racing game where he first took flight.

Wave the Swallow

In the game Sonic Riders, the Swallow made her debut as a new bird character for the first time, joining Storm and Jet. Now, just as they did before, all three of these birds find themselves back in their familiar settings.

The Werehog

In the game “Sonic Unleashed” from 2008, Sonic transforms into his other self, known as the Werehog, during nighttime. When it’s dark, Sonic undergoes this transformation. As a special bonus, you can play as the Werehog in the racing game “Sonic Racing: Crossworlds” if you pre-order it.

Zazz

In the game, Zazz is a confirmed character, although his visual representation hasn’t been shown as of now. He belongs to the group known as The Deadly Six and made his first appearance in Sonic Lost World.

Blaze the Cat

Blaze, who made her debut in Sonic Rush back in 2005 and has since gained significant popularity, seems to be among the characters confirmed for the group, yet we haven’t actually seen her appear. This is somewhat surprising given her renowned status.

Charmy Bee

Apart from being included in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, Charmy has also been a part of the team since the 1995 release of Knuckles Chaotix. With his history dating back that far, he can be considered an original member and his addition to the upcoming lineup is noteworthy.

Zavok

It’s confirmed that Zavok is joining the lineup. Although he’s made occasional appearances in the Sonic series, starting with “Sonic Lost World,” this upcoming role will likely be his most significant to date. He has also been featured in “Sonic Forces” and “Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Rouge the Bat

In the upcoming racing game, it’s been officially announced that Rouge the Bat, who is well-known for her significant bond with Knuckles in the series, will be playing the role of an antagonist, a fact that has generated much excitement among fans.

Rusty Rose

In a different rendition, Rusty Rose is a robotic form of Amy Rose, who made her debut in a television program rather than a game. She initially appeared in “Sonic Prime” and subsequently found her way into several games, now she’s listed among the characters in “Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds”.

Nine

In essence, Character Nine shares some resemblance with Rusty Rose. He’s actually a robotic iteration of Tails, equipped with seven mechanical tails, making him a nine-tailed entity. Hailing from Sonic Prime, he has been officially included in the roster.

Knuckles the Dread

In the concluding installment of Sonic Prime, we meet a character named Knuckles the Dread, who is essentially a pirate-themed version of Knuckles, also called Captain Dread. This character will be available for gameplay in the upcoming release. Furthermore, these three characters from Sonic Prime are part of the digital deluxe edition.

Egg Pawn

The Egg Pawn robot is similar to the generic minions that Dr. Eggman uses to attack Sonic, much like how you might play as a Goomba or a Koopa Troopa in Mario Kart. It’s essentially the standard model.

Hatsune Miku

In the year 2025, Hatsune Miku will join forces with a well-known video game for the second time, and this time it’s called “Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds”. Following her appearances in games like “Fortnite”, she is now set to become a playable racer within this exciting new title.

Kasuga Ichiban

Kasuga Ichiban, another significant team player, originates from the Yakuza series, one of Sega’s highly recognized video game franchises, trailing only behind Sonic in popularity.

Joker

Another possibility for SEGA’s second most widely recognized series is the “Persona” franchise, from which Joker originates. Given that he appeared in “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate”, it’s clear that he’s accustomed to being a part of games like this one. It’s likely that other SEGA franchises will also cross over into this game at some point in the future.

Steve, Alex, and the Creeper

In the exciting new racing game, Sonic Racing: Crossworlds, it has been confirmed that the Minecraft gang – Steve, Alex, and a Creeper – are joining the roster. These iconic characters will be available as part of the Season Pass’s first wave.

SpongeBob Squarepants and Patrick Star

In addition to the Minecraft crew, SpongeBob Squarepants and Patrick Star are set to join the lineup too! Just like them, you’ll have the chance to play as these characters, but only if you purchase the Season Pass during its second release wave. Please note that this expansion will require a separate payment and is not included with the initial game.

Pac-Man and the Ghosts

The well-known character from the classic video game, Pac-Man, together with his ghost companions Inky, Blinky, Pinky, and Clyde, are now included in the game lineup. This group can be obtained as the Pac-Man Pack.

Additional figures, such as certain ones hailing from “Avatar: The Last Airbender” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” might be incorporated, although their inclusion has not been officially verified at this point.
