Every Confirmed MCU Release After Punisher: One Last Kill

2026 started strong for the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Disney+, with its best streaming content in years. First, Wonder Man, starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, arrived to positive reviews. Then, the second season of Daredevil: Born Again premiered in March, bringing back Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, and earning praise from critics. Most recently, Jon Bernthal returned as Frank Castle / The Punisher in The Punisher: One Last Kill, a special presentation that runs alongside Born Again and directly leads into his appearance in the next Spider-Man movie.

This positive shift comes as Marvel Studios rebalances its strategy after a period of releasing a large volume of content. For several years, during the Multiverse Saga, the studio released as many as eight films and series annually, but the quality and success were inconsistent, leading to an internal reorganization. Marvel’s president, Kevin Feige, has described the upcoming Phase Six as being much more focused, with a renewed emphasis on connected storylines, streamlined narratives, and giving more creative control to the people making each project. As a result, there will be fewer releases compared to the busiest years of the Multiverse Saga. However, the projects planned through 2027 are some of the most exciting the franchise has announced in almost ten years.

1) X-Men ’97 Season 2

Season 2 of X-Men ’97 will be available on Disney+ this summer, bringing back familiar voices like Cal Dodd as Wolverine, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, Lenore Zann as Rogue, AJ LoCascio as Gambit, and Matthew Waterson as Magneto. The new season continues the story from the first season’s dramatic ending, with the X-Men scattered through time and facing a new major villain: Apocalypse. The original executive producers, Eric and Julia Lewald, are back, along with supervising director Jake Castorena. While Beau DeMayo wrote the initial scripts, he was later replaced by Matthew Chauncey (from What If…?) for revisions. The show has already been renewed for a third season, potentially arriving in 2027, and Marvel is so enthusiastic that they’re already planning for seasons four and five, according to executive producer Brad Winderbaum.

2) Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Currently on track for release, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be in theaters on July 31, 2026, and is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker in this sequel, set four years after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) erased his identity. Taking place in 2028, the movie draws inspiration from the popular Marvel Comics storyline of the same name by Dan Slott and Marcos Martín, which followed Spider-Man’s life after regaining his secret identity. Early photos from the set suggest a grounded, street-level story, and the confirmed appearances of Jon Bernthal as the Punisher and Michael Mando as Scorpion support this direction. Mark Ruffalo will also reprise his role as Bruce Banner, and the film is expected to play a key role in setting up the events of Avengers: Doomsday in December.

3) Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2

Fans can expect the second season of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man to arrive on Disney+ in Fall 2026. The animated series, which received a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes for its first season, is adding several popular characters in Season 2, including Venom, Gwen Stacy, Daredevil, Doctor Octopus, Scorpion, and Chameleon. Marvel Animation has already greenlit a third season, though its release date is still to be determined. The first season ended with a surprising reveal about the origin of Peter’s powers, making the next installment highly anticipated. Season 2 will also continue to reshape Spider-Man’s role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, replacing Tony Stark with Norman Osborn (voiced by Colman Domingo) as Peter’s (voiced by Hudson Thames) main mentor.

4) VisionQuest

I’m so excited for VisionQuest! It’s going to be the third and final series in what started with WandaVision and continued with Agatha All Along, and it’s coming to Disney+ in late 2026. The coolest part is Paul Bettany is back as the White Vision – remember him from the end of WandaVision? He’s basically trying to figure out what it means to be human after regaining all these memories. Terry Matalas, who did an amazing job with the final season of Star Trek: Picard, is running the show now, taking over from Jac Schaeffer who created WandaVision. But the biggest news for me is James Spader is returning as Ultron! He’s always been one of my favorite MCU villains and deserves more screen time. Plus, they’ve cast Ruaridh Mollica as a grown-up Tommy, Vision and Wanda’s son, which will connect everything back to the ending of Agatha All Along. It’s going to be epic!

5) Avengers: Doomsday

The new Marvel movie, Avengers: Doomsday, will be released in theaters on December 18, 2026. It marks the return of directors Anthony and Joe Russo, who previously helmed Avengers: Endgame. This film boasts a massive cast, similar in size to Infinity War, and stars Robert Downey Jr. as the villain Victor von Doom. This character replaces the previously planned Kang the Conqueror, following the departure of Jonathan Majors from Marvel Studios. The movie will include the Fantastic Four, the New Avengers, popular characters like Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, and even the X-Men, originally from Fox. Taking place after the events of Thunderbolts, Avengers: Doomsday is Marvel Studios’ biggest and most ambitious crossover project yet.

6) Daredevil: Born Again Season 3

Production on Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 began in March 2026, and it’s currently scheduled to be released in 2027. Dario Scardapane is returning as showrunner. Photos from the set have revealed that Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) will join Charlie Cox’s Daredevil for the first full reunion of the Defenders team since their 2017 Netflix series. The new season picks up after Matt Murdock was imprisoned for revealing his identity as Daredevil, and Wilson Fisk went into exile. This leaves Hell’s Kitchen vulnerable, and the reunited heroes must step up to protect it. Scardapane has stated the season will feel more like Frank Miller’s classic Daredevil comics, moving away from the political storylines that focused on Wilson Fisk in the first two seasons.

7) Marvel Zombies Season 2

I’m so excited to hear that Marvel Zombies is getting a second season! Brad Winderbaum, who’s in charge of Marvel TV, has said they’ve already started working on it and he’s even seen a rough version of the first episode. While we don’t know when it’ll be released, it doesn’t seem like it’ll be here until sometime after 2026. The first season left us with a huge cliffhanger – zombified Wanda Maximoff had taken over everything, and thankfully, Riri Williams and Kamala Khan were still fighting to survive! It’s great that Bryan Andrews is back as showrunner; I can’t wait to see how he expands on this crazy zombie universe.

8) Wonder Man Season 2

Just one month after its premiere, Wonder Man has been renewed for a second season, a relatively uncommon occurrence for Marvel’s Disney+ series. The first season received positive feedback, particularly for Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s performance as a Hollywood actor with hidden superpowers. He plays a man trying to balance his secret abilities with his ambition to land the starring role in a new movie within the Marvel universe, alongside Ben Kingsley’s character, Trevor Slattery. Currently, no details about the creative team or cast for Season 2 have been revealed, except that Abdul-Mateen II will return.

9) Avengers: Secret Wars

Scheduled for release on December 17, 2027, Avengers: Secret Wars will wrap up Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the overarching Multiverse Saga that started with WandaVision in 2021. Filming is planned to begin in mid-2026 at Pinewood Studios in England and will likely take around six months. The film takes its name from a 2015 Marvel Comics storyline where Doctor Doom gains immense power and creates Battleworld, a planet made up of pieces of destroyed universes. Robert Downey Jr. will reprise his role as Doom, continuing his arc from Doomsday and making Secret Wars the final chapter of a story that replaced plans for a Kang the Conqueror storyline.
