Every Death Game in Alice in Borderland Season 3, Ranked

Alice in Borderland has quickly become a hit on Netflix again with the release of its latest episodes, so let’s break down all the dangerous games from Season 3 and decide which ones were the most challenging. Alice in Borderland is back for a third and final season, finishing the story of Arisu and Usagi. Although the ending of Season 2 felt like a complete conclusion, it turned out there was an entire new season of deadly games waiting for them as they are pulled back into Borderland, searching for something beyond this world.

Alice in Borderland Season 3 features several standout games, different from those in the first two seasons, and a fresh set of characters fighting for survival. The season is packed with intense challenges, though some are more well-executed than others. Here’s a ranking of all the games from this season, listed from the least to the most compelling. Please be aware that the following contains spoilers for Alice in Borderland Season 3.

9.) Dodging Lasers

I only caught a glimpse of this game in Episode 3 – it turned out to be the first big game Usagi played in her tournament bracket. Honestly, it’s near the bottom of my list because it feels pretty basic compared to the others. It really had to make an impact with limited screen time, and the quick shots of lasers eliminating players did a good job of showing how dangerous it was. But, looking at the other games that had more detail and thought put into their designs, this one just doesn’t quite measure up.

8.) The Final Game

The last game in Alice in Borderland is important for both Arisu’s journey and the fate of the Borderland, but it’s surprisingly straightforward, especially when compared to the challenges we’ve seen before. While it’s a crucial moment that truly puts Arisu’s life at risk, it feels more like a setup for a conversation than a genuine competition, as there wasn’t a clear path to victory or defeat. It served a purpose in highlighting the season’s central ideas, but it lacks the depth and complexity we’d expect from a real “game.”

7.) Tokyo Bingo Tower

When the games of the season actually begin, we see the full rules and gameplay explained. While “Tokyo Bingo Tower” is enjoyable, it lacks the intense excitement of some of the other challenges. It’s very physically demanding, requiring Usagi and the team to press buttons while scaling the Tokyo Tower to achieve a bingo-and teamwork is essential. However, there’s no real strategy involved; it’s all about physical strength. Deaths occur due to metal balls that randomly fall from the tower’s top. These hazards appear without any pattern, making it impossible to strategically avoid them. Surprisingly, there’s also no penalty for not reaching specific heights. It simply doesn’t feel as challenging or punishing as the other games.

6.) Old Maid

The episode titled Alice in Borderland immediately kicks off Season 3 with a powerful opening. What makes this game unique is that it’s the only one happening in the actual, real world, and the consequences for losing are swift and severe. While the game itself-Old Maid-is straightforward, with no complicated rules, the punishment is shockingly brutal: losers are instantly killed right where they are. This serves as a strong reminder of the high stakes viewers will see throughout the season, and the level of violence sets a fittingly intense tone for the third season.

5.) Kick the Can

When it comes to games that combine physical exertion and intense competition, “Kick the Can” really stands out. It’s a high-energy game featuring a device that needs to reach its destination within 30 seconds, and that time limit actually *decreases* each time someone picks it up. This creates chaotic scrambles where players are literally fighting for possession, often resulting in memorable-and sometimes painful-moments. The game is also significant because it marks the beginning of the end for some long-standing characters, adding a lot of emotional weight to this part of the season. Being the second-to-last game in the tournament, it feels like a series of setbacks. Overall, it’s a really compelling game to watch unfold.

4.) Sacred Fortunes

“Sacred Fortunes” marks the official start of the season and Arisu’s return to the Borderland games, and it proved to be the most dangerous game of the season so far. Players receive a random fortune and have to decipher the riddle it contains. If they answer incorrectly, they are punished with a barrage of flaming arrows – the number of arrows reflecting how wrong their answer was. It’s a particularly challenging game, as some of the riddles felt unsolvable, and there was a hidden objective throughout that Arisu only discovered at the very end. The game echoes the large scale of the previous season, with millions of arrows falling simultaneously, but also adds a layer of frustration due to how difficult and unfair it seemed. It’s a strong beginning to this new season of games.

3.) Runaway Train

“Runaway Train” really showcases what makes these games so compelling. It blends the expansive, unpredictable nature of the Borderlands games with strict rules that can quickly lead to failure. Players are tasked with surviving a series of train cars filled with poison, and each one has limited oxygen canisters. While the game’s ending was a bit weak, it’s a pivotal moment where Arisu and Usagi almost connect. Initially, it appears unwinnable, and that might actually be true. Usagi only succeeds by bending the rules, which adds even more tension to the situation.

2.) Possible Futures

“Possible Futures” is a game that successfully blends meaningful themes and strong emotions with genuinely interesting gameplay. Players start with ten points and must find their way out of a grid-like structure. Each move to a new room costs a point, and every room presents unique challenges. What elevates the game is that each door reveals a glimpse of a potential future, influencing players to sometimes deviate from Arisu’s strategy. This makes for a captivating experience, and also deepens our understanding of the characters we’ve followed. However, there’s one game that’s ultimately more enjoyable to watch overall.

1.) Zombie Hunt

“Zombie Hunt” is the most prominent game in Alice in Borderland’s third season, and for good reason – it’s considered the best overall. This game combines high stakes, as losing has deadly consequences, with team-based strategy. Players are initially infected with a “Zombie” card and must then tag another player to engage in a head-to-head card-collecting duel. The objective is to spread the zombie infection as widely as possible, and the team with the most infected players wins. However, there’s a lot of complex strategy happening beneath the surface with this game, making it particularly engaging and challenging.

I found the core idea of this game really captivating – the zombies have to keep their true selves hidden, and for a long time, it looks like humanity is going to prevail. But then, there’s a brilliant twist at the end that completely changes everything. It’s done so skillfully that I really don’t want to give away how it all unfolds. If you only watch one game all season, this should be it. It’s just incredibly well-crafted, from beginning to end. Seriously, it’s a fantastic experience. You won’t be disappointed.
