The Golden Globes are still a significant event in Hollywood, showcasing the best movies and TV shows. The awards often hint at who will win at the Oscars. Unlike some ceremonies, the Golden Globes celebrate all kinds of films – from independent and artistic movies to popular blockbusters and even fan-favorite genre productions. This year’s show, the 83rd annual Golden Globes, continued that tradition by highlighting important stories and giving a platform to diverse filmmakers and big-budget films that really resonated with audiences around the world.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s film, One Battle After Another, was the big winner at the 2026 Golden Globes, held January 11th at the Beverly Hilton. It took home four awards in the film categories, including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and Best Director. On the TV side, the Netflix series Adolescence also won four awards, with three going to its actors. Three other shows that gained popularity last year also received major recognition.
3) Pluribus

One of the most touching moments at the 2026 Golden Globes was Rhea Seehorn’s win for Best Actress in a Television Series – Drama for her role in Pluribus. It was her first Golden Globe award, and a well-deserved recognition for her powerful and realistic portrayal of a novelist dealing with a world affected by a strange, collective consciousness virus. She beat out strong competition from Britt Lower (Severance), Helen Mirren (MobLand), and Keri Russell (The Diplomat) to win the award. While Seehorn’s individual win was a big success, Pluribus didn’t fare as well in the Best Television Series – Drama category, losing to the medical thriller The Pitt.
2) Sinners

The thriller Sinners was a big contender at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, earning seven nominations and winning two awards. It received the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement award, recognizing films that are both critically acclaimed and commercially successful – beating out huge hits like Avatar: Fire and Ash and Zootopia 2. Ludwig Göransson also won for Best Original Score, praised for his haunting music. In a surprise win, Wagner Moura became the first Brazilian actor to win Best Actor – Drama for The Secret Agent, defeating frontrunner Michael B. Jordan. While Ryan Coogler was nominated for Best Director, Paul Thomas Anderson took home the award. Sinners didn’t win Best Motion Picture – Drama, with Chloé Zhao winning for Hamnet.
1) KPop Demon Hunters

The 2026 Golden Globes highlighted the huge success of KPop Demon Hunters, with the animated film winning two major awards. The Netflix original beat out strong competition – including Elio, Arco, and the popular anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle – to win Best Animated Motion Picture. The film’s song, “Golden,” also won a Golden Globe for Best Original Song, surpassing entries from artists like Miley Cyrus and Stephen Schwartz. While KPop Demon Hunters didn’t win the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement award (that went to the thriller Sinners), its wins in animation and music make it a big success for Netflix, and could encourage the streamer to release more films in theaters.
