Just weeks before it airs, a new trailer for Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 is out! This trailer offers the most detailed preview yet, and combined with footage shown with the season 2 movie, many fans are predicting it will be the best season of the anime so far.
The latest trailer for Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 delivered exactly what fans wanted, including a detailed preview of the key characters in the first part of the season. These characters include both familiar faces and new additions, and each one deserves a closer look.
13) Yuji Itadori

Yuji Itadori is the central character in Jujutsu Kaisen. By the end of season 2, he’s deeply affected by Sukuna’s massacre and the deaths of Nanami and Nobara, as well as his inability to save Gojo. He finishes the season emotionally shattered and defeated.
Yuji is still deeply affected by the events in Shibuya during season 3 of Jujutsu Kaisen, and he’s struggling with a new way of thinking that’s actually making things worse. Despite his own problems, he’s determined to stop the Culling Games and Kenjaku’s plans, even if it means sacrificing himself.
12) Megumi Fushiguro

Megumi Fushiguro is a main character in Jujutsu Kaisen. After a fierce battle in season 2 involving Sukuna and Mahoraga, his fate was uncertain. However, previews for season 3 confirm that Megumi survived the events of the Shibuya Incident with only minor injuries.
Now that the Culling Games have begun, Megumi’s sister – who was cursed to become a sorcerer by Kenjaku – is forced to fight for her life. Megumi needs help from Yuji and others to rescue her. At the same time, he must figure out what Kenjaku is scheming and what Sukuna’s intentions are for him.
11) Yuta Okkotsu

Yuta Okkotsu is the main character in the prequel to Jujutsu Kaisen, called Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Though he’s missing for much of the main story, Yuta officially appears in season 3 with a mission: to kill Yuji. He readily accepts this task after Sukuna severely injures Inumaki.
That story wasn’t true. Yuta pretended to be Yuji’s enemy to protect him from attention within the jujutsu world. Afterward, he teamed up with Yuji and Megumi to stop the Culling Games and defeat Kenjaku, which was his primary motivation – he didn’t want Gojo to be forced to kill Geto a second time.
10) Maki Zenin

Maki Zenin is an older student and important character in the story. She participated in the Shibuya mission, and after a difficult fight with Dagon – which she barely survived thanks to Toji Fushiguro being brought back to life – Maki appeared to be killed in a fire set by Jogo.
Maki managed to survive the attack by Jogo, though she was badly burned. Now, she’s working with Yuji and his team to end the Culling Games. Her plan involves collecting powerful cursed tools for everyone, which unfortunately brings her into conflict with her estranged and disliked family, the Zenin clan.
9) Choso

Choso is a unique being called a Death Painting – a mix of human and cursed spirit. He used to work with Kenjaku, but after discovering Yuji is his brother, he switched sides to protect him. Choso feels a strong sense of responsibility as the older brother, even though Yuji doesn’t quite grasp what Choso means.
Choso remained loyal to Yuji after the events in Shibuya, and he’s present for Yuji’s crucial battle against Naoya and Yuta at the start of season 3. While his direct involvement slows down after that in the first part of the season, manga readers know Choso will play a significant role in the larger story of season 3.
8) Tengen

I’m so excited that Tengen is finally getting the spotlight! She’s this incredibly powerful, practically immortal sorcerer who’s been working behind the scenes to keep Japan safe by controlling cursed energy. We first heard about her during the Hidden Inventory arc in season 2, but season 3 is where she really steps in and starts helping Yuji and the others. It’s awesome to finally see her in action!
Tengen isn’t fully aware of Kenjaku’s goals with the Culling Games, but she understands he intends to control her using Cursed Spirit Manipulation. Because Tengen is more of a curse than a person, controlling her would give Kenjaku access to immense power. Stopping this from happening is now a top priority for the heroes.
7) Kinji Hakari

Kinji Hakari used to study at Jujutsu High, but he was banned from campus for causing problems. Gojo Satoru considered Hakari to be one of the most promising young sorcerers, alongside Yuji Itadori and Yuta Okkotsu.
Okay, so in season 3, I was really excited to see Yuji and Megumi team up to find Hakari! They figured adding him would give them a huge advantage in the Culling Games, but wow, it turned out to be way more difficult than they thought. Thankfully, they did manage to get Hakari on their side, and he instantly became one of their most powerful allies – a total game changer!
6) Hana Kurusu

At first, Hana Kurusu seemed to be a powerful sorcerer from the past, brought back to life by Kenjaku to participate in the Culling Games. However, it’s revealed that Hana has a close, cooperative relationship with the sorcerer possessing her, Angel. This allows Hana to stay in control of her own mind and actions, offering a hopeful contrast to the complicated relationship between Yuji and Sukuna.
Hana has a unique ability—through her cursed technique, she can cancel out any other cursed technique. Because of this, Yuji and Megumi are hoping she can release Gojo from the Prison Realm when they’ve exhausted all other possibilities. While Hana won’t be actively involved in much until the second part of the story, she’ll still be a central figure in the events of the first part.
5) Hiromi Higuruma

Hiromi Higuruma is one of the people Kenjaku unwillingly transformed into a sorcerer. A frustrated defense attorney who believed the Japanese legal system was unfair, Higuruma discovered his powers and immediately entered the Culling Games, eliminating two colleagues he disliked in the process.
Higuruma initially fights Yuji in the Culling Games, but they quickly become allies, much like Yuji’s relationship with Nanami. Because Higuruma is an exceptionally talented sorcerer—some even compare him to Gojo—he’s a valuable asset to Yuji and his group.
4) Fumihiko Takaba

Fumihiko Takaba became a sorcerer through Kenjaku’s Idle Transfiguration. A struggling comedian, he unexpectedly entered the Culling Games after discovering his powers. Though initially a mystery, Takaba eventually becomes a helpful ally to Yuji and his companions.
Takaba seems like a silly character, but he’s actually an extremely strong sorcerer. If he finds something amusing, he can make it reality – even Gojo isn’t immune to his abilities. While he might not have a big role in season 3, Takaba is definitely someone to watch out for.
3) Reggie Star

Reggie Star is a sorcerer who first appears in the Culling Games arc. His unique cursed technique allows him to create anything written on a receipt – it could be a physical object or even an abstract concept, like the feeling of relaxation you get from a spa day.
Reggie may not have a large role overall, but he’s crucial to the story for two reasons. First, he provides Megumi with his final, significant battle. Second, he helps Megumi understand that the Culling Game was only the beginning of Kenjaku’s larger scheme, even if Reggie wasn’t fully aware of the plan himself. Because of this, his contribution to the narrative is undeniable.
2) Naoya Zenin

Naoya Zenin is Maki’s older cousin and a member of the Zenin clan. He was a particularly cruel bully to Maki, both physically and verbally, and openly displays extreme sexism. The story also strongly suggests he sexually assaulted Maki’s sister, Mai.
We first meet Naoya as he attempts to kill Megumi in order to take over the Zenin clan. When Maki confronts the clan, Naoya quickly becomes the focus of her anger. Their fight is central to Maki’s development as a character, and it promises to be even more impactful when animated.
1) Kenjaku

Kenjaku is the primary villain in Jujutsu Kaisen. He unleashed a huge number of curses on Tokyo, throwing Japan into disorder as part of the build-up to his ultimate scheme: the Culling Games.
Kenjaku started the Culling Games to increase the overall cursed energy in Japan and to gain the powers of Tengen for himself. We won’t fully understand the extent of his plans until after the first part of Jujutsu Kaisen season 3, but it will then become clear just how evil he is.
