Every Marvel & DC Actor Cast In Chris Nolan’s Odyssey

In simple terms, “Christopher Nolan’s upcoming movie titled ‘The Odyssey,’ slated for release in 2026, is generating a lot of excitement. It boasts an impressive ensemble featuring twenty actors who have previously worked in Marvel and DC productions. This film is inspired by Homer’s ancient Greek epic poem, ‘Odyssey.’ The story revolves around Odysseus, a Greek king, who sets off on a long and hazardous voyage to return home to his wife, Penelope. Development for ‘The Odyssey’ began following the tremendous success of Nolan’s 2023 movie, ‘Oppenheimer,’ and most of its stellar cast was announced shortly thereafter.

In 2024, Oppenheimer swept through the award season, garnering numerous accolades, with seven Academy Awards being among them, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, and two for Best Supporting Actor, and more. There’s great anticipation that The Odyssey will replicate this success, as its production budget of $250 million indicates that Universal has a high level of confidence in the film. A portion of this substantial budget was allocated to assembling an impressive cast for The Odyssey, which includes 20 actors who have previously starred in Marvel and DC productions.

20) Matt Damon

Following his past partnership with Nolan on “Interstellar” and “Oppenheimer”, Matt Damon is set to take on the role of Odysseus in “The Odyssey”. Confirmed as the main actor for the film in October 2024, “The Odyssey” promises to be another remarkable addition to his illustrious acting career. Notably, Damon’s roles in the Marvel Universe are also noteworthy, given the humor infused into these side characters. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Damon portrays an Asgardian actor who depicts Loki on stage, and he also made a cameo as a redneck who crossed paths with Cable (Josh Brolin) in “Deadpool 2” of 2018.

19) Tom Holland

Tom Holland, the well-known British actor, has taken center stage in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) ever since he made his debut as Spider-Man (Peter Parker) in “Captain America: Civil War”. Since then, he’s led a solo trilogy and appeared in two Avengers movies. In 2026, Holland will reprise his role as Peter Parker in “Spider-Man: A Fresh Start”, set to hit theaters just two weeks after “The Odyssey” in July. In this film, he’ll portray Telemachus, son of Odysseus. This will be Holland’s first collaboration with Christopher Nolan, and it could signify a significant change in his career towards more prestigious acting roles.

18) Zendaya

In July 2026, Zendaya will appear in both “The Odyssey” and “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”. Her character for “The Odyssey” hasn’t been revealed yet, but photos from the set show her with her real-life fiancé Tom Holland, hinting they may share scenes. Zendaya has previously played Peter Parker’s love interest in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Michelle “MJ” Jones in the “Spider-Man” series. However, she left Parker at the end of 2021’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home”. The extent of her role in “Brand New Day” is unknown, but she’ll also be seen in “Dune: Part Three” in December 2026.

17) Anne Hathaway

As a cinephile, I’m always eager for Anne Hathaway’s next big role, having previously graced the screen alongside Christopher Nolan in “The Dark Knight Rises” and “Interstellar.” It seems that 2026 will be an incredible year for her, with no less than four films set to release: “The Odyssey,” a sequel to “The Devil Wears Prada,” “Flowervale Station,” and “Verity.” The specifics of her role in “The Odyssey” are yet to be revealed. Let’s not forget that she brought an unparalleled strength to the character of Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, opposite Christian Bale’s Batman in “The Dark Knight Rises.” Her performance is widely regarded as one of the most compelling live-action interpretations of this agile antihero.

16) Nick E. Tarabay

In February 2025, Nick E. Tarabay joined the cast of “The Odyssey,” according to Deadline, starring alongside Jimmy Gonzales and Maurice Compte. Frequently seen by fans of DC’s CW series, Tarabay portrayed Captain Boomerang in “Arrow” and Eclipso in the second season of “Stargirl” in 2021. The specific role Tarabay will play in “The Odyssey” remains undisclosed, but this film opportunity marks his largest feature film project yet.

15) Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron has frequently played roles in action-packed, superhero-type movies, such as Hancock, The Old Guard, Æon Flux, The Boys, among others. However, it wasn’t until the 2022 release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness that she joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), taking on the character of the enigmatic sorceress Clea, who teamed up with Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to thwart an invasion. Since then, neither Clea nor Theron has been seen or confirmed to return. Upcoming, Theron will portray Circe, a powerful Greek goddess and witch, in the movie The Odyssey, where she’ll encounter Odysseus during his journey.

14) Logan Marshall-Green

In July 2025, it was confirmed that actor Logan Marshall-Green had joined the cast of “The Odyssey,” taking over the role originally given to Cosmo Jarvis who had to withdraw due to scheduling issues. The specific character Marshall-Green will play is yet to be revealed, but it’s expected that this role could be more significant than his portrayal of Jackson Brice’s Shocker in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” (2017). Since then, the character of the Shocker, played by Marshall-Green, was killed off by the Vulture (Michael Keaton), and was subsequently replaced with Herman Schultz (Bokeem Woodbine). Neither the Shocker nor Herman Schultz have appeared in the MCU since.

13) Jon Bernthal

In the initial trailer for “The Odyssey”, Jon Bernthal plays a significant part, interacting with Tom Holland, hinting at a substantial character in the film. Bernthal was added to “The Odyssey’s” cast in January 2025, just before he reprised his role as Frank Castle’s Punisher in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Prior to this, Bernthal had been working on a standalone Punisher project for the MCU, and is slated to appear again in the 2026 season 2 of “Daredevil: Born Again”. Therefore, he will remain a key figure in future Marvel Studios productions.

12) Bill Irwin

In his past work, Bill Irwin was recognized as the mastermind behind TARS in Interstellar and is now set to collaborate with Christopher Nolan once more in The Odyssey, although the specifics of his role are undisclosed at this time. Irwin has also made a significant impact on television by portraying Cary Loudermilk, a co-founder and mutant scientist from Summerland, in the highly successful series Legion. This show was broadcast concurrently with the X-Men franchise by 20th Century Fox between 2017 and 2019. Irwin’s esteemed acting background lends credibility to Legion and will be a valuable addition to The Odyssey.

11) Iddo Goldberg

In the past, Israeli actor Iddo Goldberg made a guest appearance in one episode of the first season of CBS’ Supergirl. This was before the series shifted to The CW and became part of the Arrowverse. In that episode, Goldberg portrayed the supervillain inventor T.O. Morrow and one of his creations, Red Tornado. However, it turned out that he couldn’t compete with Melissa Benoist’s character, Supergirl (the Kryptonian). Later in February 2025, Goldberg became a part of the cast for The Odyssey. Additionally, he has previously acted in shows like Snowpiercer, Westworld, Salem, and Peaky Blinders.

10) Josh Stewart

Towards the end of February 2025, Josh Stewart officially joined the cast of The Odyssey, as announced on Instagram. He also reminded fans of his past projects with Christopher Nolan, such as playing Barsad in The Dark Knight Rises (2012), providing the voice for CASE in Interstellar (2014), and voicing a character in Tenet (2020). Additionally, Stewart had a significant role in Marvel Television’s second season of The Punisher in 2019, where he portrayed John Pilgrim, who was hired to hunt and kill Amy Bendix (Giorgia Whigham), but eventually chose not to.

9) Anthony Molinari

After his stunt work on the film “Oppenheimer”, Anthony Molinari could potentially secure a similar or larger role in “The Odyssey”. This opportunity arises from his extensive career with Marvel, where he has performed stunts and acted in minor roles for numerous projects such as the 2013 one-shot of “Agent Carter”, playing a police officer in “Cloak & Dagger”, a SHIELD agent in 2019’s “Captain Marvel”, a mob-related character in “Spider-Man: Far From Home”, and a militia soldier in 2021’s “WandaVision”. Additionally, he made an uncredited appearance as a mafioso in the 2020 movie “Birds of Prey”, starring Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn in the DC Extended Universe.

8) Jimmy Gonzales

Jimmy Gonzales is widely recognized for his roles in shows like Mayans M.C., The Rookie, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, 24: Legacy, The Walking Dead, and Blue Miracle. In February 2025, he joined the cast of The Odyssey alongside Nick E. Tarabay and Maurice Compte. While some might recall his brief appearance in the Marvel Universe as a Mexican staff member in Logan (2017), it was not a significant role within the X-Men franchise film. It remains undetermined how substantial Gonzales’ role will be in The Odyssey.

7) Jesse Garcia

Back in 2012, I was merely a bit-player as a SHIELD agent on the helicarrier in The Avengers, a role that didn’t receive much attention or development afterwards. Fast forward to February 2025, and I find myself joining the cast of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, alongside Will Yun Lee who also has a Marvel background but from a different franchise. The details about my role in The Odyssey remain a mystery, but this new chapter promises to be an exciting addition to my acting journey that already includes roles in Flamin’ Hot, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Narcos: Mexico, and more.

6) Will Yun Lee

In February 2025, it was confirmed that Will Yun Lee would be joining the cast of The Odyssey alongside Garcia, implying that the film could feature intense action scenes given Lee’s expertise in martial arts. You might recognize him as Kenuichio Harada from The Wolverine (2013), where he showcased his skills opposite Hugh Jackman in the X-Men series by 20th Century Fox. Prior to that, Lee portrayed Kirigi in Elektra (2005). More recently, he lent his voice to characters in Superman: Unbound (an animated DC film) and The Amazing Spider-Man video game (2012), demonstrating his extensive experience with superhero roles.

5) Corey Hawkins

Corey Hawkins gained widespread recognition for his roles as Heath on The Walking Dead and Dr. Dre in Straight Outta Compton, but his portrayal in The Odyssey promises to be his most distinguished character yet. A versatile actor both on stage and screen, Hawkins has graced numerous productions including BlacKkKlansman, Kong: Skull Island, The Tragedy of Macbeth, The Color Purple, Poker Face, and even had a minor role in Iron Man 3 as a U.S. Navy operator in 2013. Let’s hope that unlike his brief stint in Iron Man 3, Hawkins’ presence in The Odyssey won’t be overlooked.

4) Elliot Page

Before his transition, Elliot Page was initially known for playing Kitty Pryde’s Shadowcat in the 2006 film “X-Men: The Last Stand”, a role he reprised in “X-Men: Days of Future Past” in 2014. With just two projects to his credit, he held the longest tenure in this role among X-Men actors. Given that many original X-Men actors are expected to return for the 2026 film “Avengers: Doomsday”, it’s unlikely Elliot Page will join them. However, 2026 promises a significant milestone in Elliot Page’s acting career as he is set to appear in “The Odyssey”. He joined the cast in January 2025 alongside Bill Irwin and actors from films such as “Yesterday”, “Tenet”, and “Don’t Look Up”, specifically Himesh Patel.

3) Ryan Hurst

Ryan Hurst, renowned for his performances in “Sons of Anarchy,” “The Walking Dead,” “Remember the Titans,” and “Outsiders,” joined the outstanding cast of “The Odyssey” in March 2025. Although Hurst doesn’t have extensive superhero experience, he lent his voice to Lobo in the 2020 animated film “Superman: Man of Tomorrow.” Lobo, a bounty hunter from DC Comics, will be portrayed by Jason Momoa in the 2026 “Supergirl” movie, which features Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, Supergirl. Hurst’s next on-screen role will be seen in “The Odyssey.

2) Lupita Nyong’o

Lupita Nyong’o is expected to play a significant part in the upcoming film adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey, given her impressive acting resume that includes 12 Years a Slave, Us, The Wild Robot, and Star Wars, as well as her role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In Black Panther, she portrays Nakia, the romantic interest of T’Challa, played by the late Chadwick Boseman, and the mother to his on-screen son, T’Challa from 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. There is speculation that Nyong’o may reprise her role in Avengers: Doomsday, although this hasn’t been officially confirmed at present.

1) Robert Pattinson

Following his role in Christopher Nolan’s film “Tenet” in 2020, it was officially announced in November 2024 that Robert Pattinson would also be part of the cast for “The Odyssey.” This news came two years after he made his debut as an alternate version of Batman in Matt Reeves’ critically acclaimed “The Batman” movie, which has since been recognized as a DC Elseworlds project. In recent times, Pattinson has solidified himself as a respected and accomplished actor with roles in “Tenet,” “The Batman,” “Mickey 17,” “The Lighthouse,” “Good Time,” and many others, making him a more versatile and captivating star. Consequently, “The Odyssey” is expected to gain from his involvement.
