There’s exciting news for IMAX fans! Nine new movies from Star Wars, Marvel, and DC are heading to the big screen, including two that have been highly anticipated for over five years. With more and more people going back to theaters after the pandemic, getting an IMAX release is becoming very competitive, which means these films are likely to be truly special and worth seeing in that format.
Major film studios recently announced their plans for the next two years of IMAX releases, and they’re packed with highly anticipated sequels like The Batman 2 and Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse – following the successful releases of the first installments in 2022 and 2023. However, a film focusing on Rey’s adventures after The Rise of Skywalker, originally announced in 2023, is notably absent from the Star Wars schedule and still doesn’t have a confirmed release date.
You can see each of the big 3’s films coming to IMAX below.
Star Wars:
- The Mandalorian And Grogu (May 22, 2026)
- Star Wars: A New Hope 50th Anniversary (April 30, 2027)
- Star Wars: Starfighter (May 28, 2027)
DC
- Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow (June 26, 2026)
- Superman: Man Of Tomorrow (July 9, 2027)
- The Batman 2 (October 1, 2027)
Marvel
- Avengers: Doomsday (December 18,2026)
- Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse (June 27, 2027)
- Avengers: Secret War (December 17, 2027)
There Really Is A Ton To Look Forward To

It’s great to get both Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow and Superman: Man of Tomorrow so close together – hopefully, this means we won’t have to wait years between superhero movies and their sequels like we did with the last Batman film. And good news for Batman fans: Robert Pattinson will be back as the Caped Crusader in The Batman 2, which is scheduled for release in 2027.
Rumors are swirling about the next two Avengers movies, Doomsday and Secret War, building anticipation for big changes coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. These changes could include a new team of young X-Men and a powerful, possibly aggressive, return for the Hulk.
