Adamantium is a powerful material frequently used by villains in Marvel Comics, appearing in both weapons and as part of their bodies. While Wolverine is the most famous character associated with it, many others also possess and utilize adamantium. Interestingly, it’s become more common in Marvel stories than Vibranium. Though incredibly expensive to create – theoretically making mass production impossible – adamantium has spread surprisingly widely. Even lesser-known villains and groups like the Serpent Society now have access to weapons made from it, despite its supposed rarity and cost.
This list explores the Marvel villains—from Wolverine’s greatest foes to mutant threats and terrorist groups—who wield the powerful metal Adamantium.
10) Sabretooth (Bones & Claws)

Wolverine’s greatest enemy is Sabretooth, and it’s fitting that he also possesses Adamantium. They’ve been fighting for years, and Sabretooth has come closer to killing Wolverine more times than any other villain. Besides being incredibly strong and able to heal quickly, Sabretooth is armed with dangerous Adamantium claws.
Sabretooth first gained an Adamantium skeleton and claws in Wolverine’s 1998 comic series. He temporarily lost these enhancements when Apocalypse drained them from him after a defeat, but Weapon X later restored them. While he briefly used Adamantium armor after losing his powers, Adamantium has consistently been a part of Sabretooth’s story.
9) Bullseye (Spinal Column / Partial Skeleton)

Bullseye, a villain from Daredevil, received his Adamantium in a surprising way. While he doesn’t have any superpowers, he’s an incredibly skilled marksman, capable of using anything – even his own teeth, as he once did against a guard – as a deadly weapon. Getting Adamantium simply enhanced his already dangerous abilities.
Following a period working for a Japanese crime boss, Lord Dark Wind reinforced Bullseye’s skeleton with Adamantium. This bonding to his bones, spine, and skull makes Bullseye incredibly durable, allowing him to survive falls from great heights without significant injury.
8) Baron Zemo (Sword)

Baron Zemo is a major enemy of Captain America. Captain America’s shield is incredibly durable because it’s made from a combination of Vibranium and Adamantium. To challenge this powerful shield, Zemo created a weapon using Adamantium as well.
Zemo’s arsenal includes many of the same weapons his father used, but his most valuable possession is a sword forged from pure Adamantium. Although Captain America’s shield is made of both Vibranium and Adamantium, it remains impervious to the sword, Zemo’s blade can defeat almost any opponent he faces.
7) Ultron (Outer Body)

Hank Pym designed Ultron to be a peacekeeping robot, intended to defend the world from threats even the Avengers couldn’t face. Unfortunately, Ultron misunderstood its instructions and concluded that humanity itself was the threat, quickly becoming a danger to the entire world. As it evolved, Ultron also became increasingly cunning and intelligent, constantly upgrading its own systems.
Ultron created Vision, a robot who ultimately turned against him, mirroring Ultron’s own betrayal of Hank Pym. He also worked on upgrading his physical form, first building a nearly unbreakable body from stolen Adamantium for Ultron-6, and then continually improving it with more advanced Adamantium, starting with Ultron-9 and beyond.
6) Lady Deathstrike (Claws / Skeleton)

Lady Deathstrike is a Marvel character with a strong connection to Wolverine. She’s a cyborg, meaning she has a body enhanced with machinery that can even heal itself. Interestingly, she’s the daughter of Lord Dark Wind, the man who coated Bullseye’s skeleton with Adamantium. He also gave Lady Deathstrike a similar upgrade – incredibly dangerous Adamantium claws.
Unlike Sabretooth’s claws, hers are incredibly unique. They can extend up to a foot and are coated with Adamantium, allowing her to slice through almost anything. While she can’t cut through other Adamantium objects, like Captain America’s shield, she can easily pierce enemies from afar.
5) Romulus (Skeleton / Claws)

Romulus is a complicated villain for Wolverine – he’s incredibly powerful and makes a big impact whenever he appears. He says he’s from ancient times and the first of a wolf-like species, making him virtually immortal. Throughout his comic book history, Romulus has been obsessed with collecting Adamantium. In fact, he was the one who originally came up with the idea to bond Adamantium to Wolverine’s skeleton.
When Wolverine and Romulus finally fought at the Weapon X facility, Romulus had enhanced himself by bonding Adamantium to his skeleton and equipping four Adamantium claws. This made him very similar to Wolverine in terms of weaponry and durability.
4) Omega Red (Armor / Tentacles)

Omega Red is a formidable enemy of Wolverine with powers beyond just having Adamantium. He can release deadly spores that are instantly fatal to anyone nearby. However, his primary ability is as an energy vampire – he drains the life force from other people to stay alive.
Despite being incredibly strong, he’s not indestructible. That’s why he wears a full suit of red armor made from a strong metal called secondary Adamantium. This armor protects him from almost all injuries, except those caused by extremely powerful attacks. The armor is definitely Adamantium because it has survived attacks from Wolverine’s claws. His tentacles are also reinforced with this same durable metal.
3) Tiger Shark (Teeth)

Tiger Shark isn’t a major villain, but his story is tragic. He was once Todd Arliss, an Olympic swimmer who became paralyzed while rescuing someone. He then volunteered for a dangerous experiment where his DNA was combined with that of a tiger shark and Namor, transforming him into the supervillain he is today, both physically and mentally.
In addition to gaining powers from DNA experiments, Tiger Shark now has teeth reinforced with the incredibly strong metal, Adamantium. It’s unknown exactly when this happened, but he revealed this upgrade to his arsenal while working with the Offenders, confirming his teeth are now a dangerous weapon.
2) Kraven the Hunter (Knife)

Kraven the Hunter is a skilled hunter who uses many different weapons to track down his targets. He follows a personal code of honor, but he always makes sure his equipment is as strong and effective as possible. He utilizes everything from darts and axes to knives and firearms in his hunts. Interestingly, despite using guns, he actually dislikes them.
His weapons, similar to his knives, are frequently coated with Adamantium. He also possesses Adamantium long knives and fishhooks, enabling him to defeat even the toughest creatures and opponents.
1) Hammerhead (Upper Skeleton)

I’ve always found Hammerhead’s story so compelling. He wasn’t born with Adamantium like some villains; he got it later in life. During the Civil War comics, he started bringing all these criminals together under his control, which really rubbed Wilson Fisk the wrong way. Fisk, being the Kingpin, sent his guy, Underworld, to take care of the problem. Underworld actually shot Hammerhead at close range with bullets made of Adamantium! It was brutal, but thankfully Hammerhead’s reinforced skull saved his life, though he was left in a coma with some serious brain damage.
This resulted in Mister Negative rescuing Hammerhead, and Doctor Trauma saving his life with a unique operation: transplanting his brain into a new, incredibly durable skeleton made of Adamantium. As a result of this rescue and enhancement, Hammerhead pledged his loyalty to Mister Negative and is now nearly invulnerable to physical attacks.
