Every MCU Post-Credits Scene That’s Yet To Be Resolved

Marvel fans always want to know what’s coming next, and the movies often hint at future storylines. These hints usually come in the form of short scenes after the credits roll. For example, the scene after Captain America: The Winter Soldier introduced the characters of Quicksilver and Wanda Maximoff, who then appeared in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Similarly, after Iron Man 2, we saw Thor’s hammer, hinting at his arrival. The post-credits scene in Spider-Man: Far from Home revealed Spider-Man’s secret identity, which became a key plot point in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Not all these scenes are about setting up future movies, though. Some, like the shawarma scene at the end of The Avengers, are just lighthearted and fun.

As for what’s coming next, several storylines remain unresolved, and it doesn’t look like either of the planned 2026 Marvel movies will fully conclude them. That said, the post-credit scenes from Spider-Man: Homecoming (excluding the Vulture plotline) and The Fantastic Four: First Steps are expected to address some of these, so this list might get shorter as more movies are released. This includes both scenes shown after the credits and mid-credit scenes.

13) Karl Mordo Grabbing Up Power — Doctor Strange

Chiwetel Ejiofor is a fantastic actor, and his character, Baron Karl Mordo, had a compelling turn towards villainy in Doctor Strange. It’s especially engaging when a villain’s actions stem from feeling betrayed – it’s something audiences can easily relate to and understand.

Six years after the initial film, a different version of Mordo appeared, and the conflict with Strange remained. However, the storyline didn’t follow up on Mordo’s actions with Jonathan Pangborn – the man who originally led Strange to Kamar-Taj. The post-credits scene of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness didn’t suggest the movies would revisit that earlier plot point either. It’s unfortunate, as a Doctor Strange film focusing on Chiwetel Ejiofor’s character as the villain could have been compelling.

12) Reassembling the Ravagers — Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has five post-credit scenes. Three are just for laughs, one sets up the plot for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and another one pretended to set up Vol. 3 but ultimately didn’t go anywhere.

The scene involves Sylvester Stallone’s character, Stakar Ogord, suggesting to his former Ravager teammates that they reform their original group, honoring the memory of Yondu Udonta. While Stakar appeared in Vol. 3, his fellow Ravagers, Aleta Ogord (Michelle Yeoh) and Charlie-27 (Ving Rhames), were notably absent.

11) Sharon Carter Contacts Madripoor — The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Two scenes played after the credits of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. One featured John Walker, who had become a super soldier, and the other focused on Sharon Carter.

We recently saw Walker in Thunderbolts and will see him again in Avengers: Doomsday. However, there’s currently no information about when Carter will reappear. Her Disney+ series revealed a more morally ambiguous side, culminating in her seemingly betraying the U.S. by offering state secrets to Madripoor. Despite this, Emily VanCamp isn’t currently slated to appear in any future Marvel Cinematic Universe projects.

10) The Ten Rings Are a Beacon — Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Simu Liu became a star after his role in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, but he hasn’t appeared much in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since then. He’s only been in two episodes of What If…? and three episodes of Marvel Zombies. That’s about to change with Avengers: Doomsday, and fans are still hoping for a follow-up to his excellent standalone movie, which was a highlight of Phase Four.

Five years after its release, two post-credit scenes in Legend of the Ten Rings still need to be addressed. The first scene shows Wong introducing Shang-Chi and Katy to Bruce Banner and Carol Danvers, where they mention the Ten Rings are sending out a signal – but the destination of that signal remains a mystery. This plot point will likely be explored in a future Shang-Chi sequel, or possibly in one of the upcoming Avengers films, Doomsday or Secret Wars.

9) Xu Xialing Now Leads the Ten Rings — Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

The post-credits scene of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings shows Shang-Chi’s sister, Xialing, taking over leadership of the Ten Rings organization from their father. Meng’er Zhang delivered a fantastic performance, and fans would love to see her character return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Simu Liu will be in both Doomsday and Secret Wars. While neither Fala Chen nor Awkwafina are currently slated to appear, it’s likely Shang-Chi will reconnect with at least one of them during these two large-scale movies. Both have remained involved with the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Legend of the Ten Rings; Fala Chen appeared in a 2024 episode of What If…? and Awkwafina starred in three episodes of Marvel Zombies last year.

8) Meeting Eros — Eternals

Both Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Eternals were 2021 Marvel movies that included scenes after the credits hinting at future storylines. However, while Shang-Chi was a hit, Eternals didn’t perform as well, meaning those after-credits scenes likely won’t be followed up on.

The first post-credit scene introduced Thanos’ brother, Eros, played by Harry Styles. Despite Styles’ star power and a bigger role, audiences don’t seem interested in seeing another Eternals movie. It felt like this installment was setting up a sequel, but unfortunately, a second film isn’t likely to happen.

7) Dane Whitman Gets the Ebony Blade — Eternals

The scene we discussed earlier was meant to set up a sequel to Eternals, but the other post-credits scene was intended to introduce the Blade movie. However, as it now seems, Blade is likely not going to happen.

There’s a possibility Mahershala Ali’s Blade could appear in a team-up movie featuring the Midnight Sons. Rumors also point to Dane Whitman, also known as Black Knight (played by Kit Harington), potentially joining that team. It remains to be seen if the Midnight Sons project gains more traction than the previously planned Blade movie.

6) Wong Frees Emil Blonsky — She-Hulk: Attorney at Law

The post-credits scene of the ninth She-Hulk: Attorney at Law episode shows Wong using a portal to break Emil Blonsky out of prison and bring him to Kamar-Taj. Honestly, it’s probably okay if we don’t see Blonsky again – we’ve already seen his complete story arc, from The Incredible Hulk all the way through She-Hulk.

If there’s one post-credits scene from She-Hulk fans want to see more of, it’s Wong and Madisynn King watching This Is Us. We need more Madisynn – Patty Guggenheim is fantastic!

5) Clea & the Third Eye — Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

As we previously noted with the news about Mordo, another Doctor Strange movie is planned. But it’s still in the very early stages, and won’t be released until after Avengers: Secret Wars.

The movie strongly suggests we’ll see more of Doctor Strange’s abilities with his third eye, and explore his relationship with Clea in the Dark Dimension. With Charlize Theron playing Clea, it’s highly likely she’ll have a significant role beyond a brief cameo. Hopefully, we’ll also get to see more of Bruce Campbell’s character, perhaps even joining Strange and Clea in the Dark Dimension.

4) Meet Hercules — Thor: Love and Thunder

Thor: Love and Thunder includes two scenes after the credits roll. One offers a heartwarming conclusion to Jane Foster’s story, showing her arrival in Valhalla where she’s welcomed by Heimdall.

Brett Goldstein, known for his role in Ted Lasso, is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Hercules. While Goldstein is a rising star and physically fits the part, the previous Thor film, Love and Thunder, wasn’t a success. Many found it inconsistent in tone, mixing serious story elements with overly silly comedy, particularly Russell Crowe’s portrayal of Zeus. A potential fifth Thor movie will likely try to avoid that same lighthearted approach. However, there’s also a chance we won’t see another standalone Thor film at all, as his relationship with his adopted daughter, Love, seems destined to continue in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

3) All the Kangs — Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Currently, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania feels out of place within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With major changes to the overall storyline, it doesn’t quite fit anymore.

It’s certain Jonathan Majors won’t be playing Kang the Conqueror anymore. Marvel is now moving forward with Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, and it’s likely Doom will be a stronger villain. While Kang had a memorable introduction in Loki Season 1, he didn’t quite live up to the hype in Quantumania. Fortunately, Paul Rudd will continue as Ant-Man in a future film called Doomsday, though it seems Evangeline Lilly’s time as Hope Van Dyne is probably over.

2) Monica Rambeau Meets “Her Mom” — The Marvels

Several post-credit scenes hint at what’s coming in Avengers: Doomsday. The scene after Deadpool & Wolverine clarifies why Gambit is involved, the Captain America: Brave New World scene features Samuel Sterns warning about an approaching conflict, and the end of Thunderbolts shows the Fantastic Four arriving on Earth-616.

The story of The Marvels also leaves things open for future installments. After Monica Rambeau seemingly sacrifices herself, she wakes up in a hospital to find her mother, Maria, at her bedside. However, Maria doesn’t recognize Monica, as she’s from an alternate reality where she knows Monica as Binary, a friend of the X-Men. While Teyonah Parris and Lashana Lynch aren’t currently slated to appear in Doomsday, Kelsey Grammer, who plays Beast and makes his debut here, is. Given Beast’s involvement, it would be surprising if this storyline isn’t continued in Doomsday, potentially before the year is out.

1) Parker Robbins, the Sorcerer — Ironheart

The final episode of Ironheart, titled “The Past Is the Past,” reveals that Parker Robbins (Anthony Ramos) gained power, status, and wealth by making a deal with Mephisto (Sacha Baron Cohen). This power came in the form of a hood that was physically and mentally changing Robbins. During his battle with Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne), he loses the hood. Afterward, in a scene after the credits, Robbins seeks out Zelma, a friend of Riri’s who is skilled in magic, and asks for her assistance.

Since Ironheart is a limited series and Dominique Thorne’s involvement in Avengers: Secret Wars is just a rumor, it’s unclear when Marvel plans to continue Riri Williams’ story, let alone Dominic Robbins’. It’s highly unlikely their story will be part of Secret Wars, which is expected to focus on more central characters.
