As the release of Toy Story 5 gets closer, we’re learning more about the new characters joining the cast. The Toy Story movies have been incredibly successful, loved by audiences young and old, praised by critics, and winning many awards. While some were unsure if another sequel was needed when Toy Story 5 was announced, most fans are thrilled to see what happens next with these beloved characters. However, not all the original characters will be back, meaning new faces will need to step in and fill some important roles.

I’m getting so excited for the fifth Toy Story movie, which is coming out on June 19, 2026! They’ve started dropping trailers and announcing who’s in it, and it sounds like they’re mixing things up a bit. Some familiar faces are being recast, but they’re also introducing a whole bunch of new characters. I’ve put together a list of every new character that’s been confirmed for Toy Story 5 so far.

7) Greta Lee as Lilypad

The trailer for Toy Story 5 highlights Lilypad, a new tablet character who will be the movie’s villain. Voiced by Greta Lee, Lilypad quickly becomes Bonnie’s favorite, causing Woody and the other toys to worry they’ll be replaced. This tech-savvy villain is sure to resonate with parents and hints that the movie will explore the challenge of keeping classic toys relevant in a world increasingly focused on technology.

6) Craig Robinson as Atlas

Craig Robinson will be voicing a new character in Toy Story 5 named Atlas. Atlas is a cheerful, talking GPS hippo toy, and while his specific role isn’t known yet, he seems to bridge the gap between traditional toys and technology, which is a key theme of the new movie. He doesn’t have a big appearance in the trailer, so it’s still unclear which side he’s on.

5) Conan O’Brien as Smarty Pants

A big surprise for fans of the Toy Story series is the news that Conan O’Brien will be joining the cast of Toy Story 5. The well-known comedian and talk show host will play Smarty Pants, a new toy whose purpose is to help kids with potty training. While details about the character are limited, he appears frequently in the movie’s trailer, hinting at a significant role.

4) Matty Matheson as Dr. Nutcase

I’m really excited about one of the new toys in Toy Story 5 – Dr. Nutcase! He’s voiced by Matty Matheson, who you might know from The Bear, and he’s a peanut-shaped toy who’s a bit of a daredevil, but also surprisingly worried about how technology is changing things. We haven’t learned much about him yet, but he was definitely in the trailer, so I have a feeling he’s going to be a big part of the story.

3) Shelby Rabara as Snappy

Pixar’s Toy Story 5 has added a new character named Snappy, a lively camera, to the cast. Shelby Rabara, who many know from Steven Universe, provides the voice for Snappy. While Snappy appears briefly in the trailer, their exact role in the movie remains a mystery.

2) Mykal-Michelle Harris as Blaze

The human characters in the Toy Story movies are just as crucial as the toys themselves. The cast for Toy Story 5 recently announced a new major human character named Blaze, an 8-year-old animal lover. Mykal-Michelle Harris will provide the voice for Blaze in the upcoming Pixar film.

1) Honorable Mention: Melissa Villaseñor as Karen Beverly

Although Karen Beverly appeared briefly at the end of Toy Story 4, she isn’t entirely new to the series. In Toy Story 5, she’ll be a major character – the trailer shows her getting married to Forky in front of all the other toys, confirming her expanded role in the franchise.
