For September 2025, the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium game lineup encompasses various genres such as survival, action, adventure, and strategy. Interestingly, PlayStation seems to be preparing for the approaching Halloween season, as it plans to introduce two popular indie horror games to the service. Since the Extra and Premium games are typically released either in the middle or towards the end of the month, it appears that they’re releasing these spine-chilling titles early to kick off the spooky season rather than after the Halloween spirit has begun to fade.
Although those eerie games are definitely the main attraction, they’re merely the initial offering. If we don’t encounter another surprise like August’s “The Rogue Prince of Persia” this month, here’s a compiled list, ranked, of all eight PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium games for September 2025.
By using “compiled list, ranked” instead of “one ranked list”, I tried to make the sentence more natural and easier to read by eliminating redundancy.
8) Legacy of Kain: Defiance
The last new installment in the Legacy of Kain series, Defiance, didn’t quite live up to expectations as it leaned more towards combat like Devil May Cry, but its fight scenes weren’t as engaging and the camera was somewhat problematic. Additionally, the storyline might be complex for those unfamiliar with the series lore, yet Raziel and Kain are intriguing characters due to their well-delivered dialogue. Despite the game’s shortcomings, its availability on the PlayStation Store now means that all Soul Reaver games can be played on modern PlayStation consoles.
7) Fate/Samurai Remnant
Fate/Samurai Remnant” stands out as a more specialized title among this collection. It’s a Musou-style game similar to Dynasty Warriors, but set within the Fate universe; a niche within a niche. The melee combat offers a reasonable level of complexity due to the variety of choices available to players. Slaughtering large groups can be an effortlessly enjoyable experience, although some battles may see a sudden halt in progress when enemies have excessive health. While its visuals and storyline (relative to other Fate games) could use improvement, these weaknesses might not appeal to everyone. However, the game’s strong points may still draw in players unfamiliar with the series.
6) Green Hell
The challenging survival game titled “Green Hell” immerses players in the dense Amazon rainforest, demanding their full attention. Swarming with ferocious insects and aggressive wildlife, the game also presents players with a variety of plants and items that they must meticulously search for to endure the harsh environment and combat hallucinations. Therefore, “Green Hell” never lets players rest as they construct their base and persevere through each day. Furthermore, it offers a more detailed narrative campaign compared to similar games, following the protagonist Jake in his quest to find his lost wife. Despite being a survival game, which may limit its appeal, “Green Hell” is renowned among survival games and could be worth exploring for some players.
5) WWE 2K25
The upcoming game, titled WWE 2K25, continues the tradition of professional wrestling video games, primarily catering to those who already have a passion for the sport. However,
4) Conscript
Drafted adopts the Resident Evil formula from the original PlayStation and sets it in World War I during the Battle of Verdun. This unusual combination works due to the grim nature of warfare. Players must navigate trenches, collect keys, and carefully manage resources while either evading or eliminating German troops. The game draws obvious influences, but it’s a compelling horror title that adds its own unique touches.
3) Persona 5 Tactica
The influence of Persona 5 is undeniably strong, with any game sharing its title needing to measure up significantly. While not quite reaching the same heights, Persona 5 Tactica remains an admirable spin-off. Although combat still necessitates strategic thinking, the altered presentation distinguishes it from a straightforward remake. Now, players must navigate the battlefield, which can result in thrilling combos that reward tactical decisions. The narrative might not be as compelling as Persona 5‘s or cater exclusively to fans of that installment, but with its visually appealing art style, outstanding soundtrack, and engaging combat, Tactica maintains its status as a worthy addition to the Persona series.
2) The Invincible
The Invincible” presents a space-themed narrative adventure, reminiscent of “Firewatch,” derived from a Polish novel. Like many contemporary games, it revolves around uncovering mysteries. The Mars-like planet serves as an enchanting backdrop for this mystery, led by Yasna, the well-portrayed protagonist. The experience holds up until the conclusion where the game seems to lose direction and veers off course. However, the journey leading up to that point is engaging and rewarding.
1) Crow Country
In simpler terms, “Crow Country” is a horror game reminiscent of Resident Evil from the PS1 era, although it shares some visual similarities with certain characters from Final Fantasy VII and Silent Hill. However, it’s important to note that Crow Country doesn’t simply imitate these games; instead, it adds unique elements to the traditional formula commonly found in these games, where players explore a spooky theme park collecting keys as they go.
An enhanced targeting mechanism and some camera adjustability significantly enhance combat’s excitement, making it feel less outdated. Moreover, there’s a challenging mode and a more lenient one where monsters are absent, catering to diverse player preferences. Numerous games have attempted to mimic this horror style, but Crow Country stands out due to its exceptional modernization of this template while honoring its roots.
