Okay, so as a huge Spider-Man fan, I’m really excited about Spider-Man: Brand New Day – it feels like the start of a whole new chapter for the MCU’s Spidey. From what I’ve heard, they’re pulling from a lot of the classic comic book rogues gallery, which is awesome. We don’t know the full story yet, or exactly who the big bad will be, but there’s already a ton of buzz and rumors floating around about which villains are going to show up. It sounds like they’re packing this movie with bad guys!
Lots of Spider-Man villains have been suggested for the new movie, as many unofficial sources have tried to predict who will appear. However, a few names keep coming up from reliable sources. Here’s a list of the villains confirmed to be in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, along with the most likely candidates still rumored to appear.
7) The Hand – Rumored

As a huge Marvel fan, I’m really excited about the possibility of The Hand showing up in the upcoming Brand New Day! They’re such a classic villainous organization in the comics. I’ve heard whispers that Spider-Man might face them early on, and that we’ll see those instantly recognizable red ninja outfits. What’s really cool is that it sounds like characters from the Daredevil and The Defenders series could return, potentially setting things up for them to reappear in future seasons of Daredevil: Born Again. It would be amazing to see those connections made!
6) Tarantula – Rumored

I’ve been hearing a lot of buzz about the opening of the new Spider-Man movie, Brand New Day. Apparently, it’s going to kick off with a montage of Spidey taking down some smaller-time baddies. One villain that keeps popping up in connection with this is Tarantula. He’s a really interesting character – in the comics, he’s originally from the made-up country of Delvadia in South America. He comes to the States and becomes a criminal, basically silencing anyone who gets in his way, which, naturally, leads to a lot of run-ins with Spider-Man.
5) Boomerang – Rumored

Another villain frequently mentioned for the scene is Boomerang. As his name suggests, this character commits crimes using boomerangs and martial arts, and he’s involved with organized criminal activity.
4) William Metzger – Rumored

Tramell Tillman will be in the upcoming series Brand New Day, though his specific role is still unconfirmed. While many believe he’ll be part of the DODC, current information suggests he’ll play a smaller character named William Metzger. In the original comic books, Metzger is a powerful politician who uses TV to promote anti-mutant views and eventually founds the Anti-Mutant Militia, turning public opinion against mutants.
3) Scorpion – Confirmed

Scorpion, first introduced in Spider-Man: Homecoming, will officially become a villain in Brand New Day. Michael Mando initially played Mac Gargan as a tattooed criminal in Homecoming, but now he’ll be wearing the Scorpion suit and likely targeting Spider-Man.
In the comics, Scorpion starts as a detective hired by J. Jonah Jameson to undergo a process that gives him his suit, with the goal of tracking down Spider-Man. While the current storyline, Brand New Day, likely won’t involve Jameson in that same way, Scorpion could instead be hired by Wilson Fisk, or another criminal already established in Brand New Day.
2) Tombstone – Confirmed

Marvin Jones III will portray Tombstone, another villain appearing in Brand New Day. In the comics, Tombstone—originally Lonnie Lincoln—is a gangster who gains incredibly tough, unbreakable skin and enhanced strength after being exposed to a chemical gas created by Doc Ock. He then uses these powers to become a major crime boss in New York City.
Because the upcoming Brand New Day movie will focus more on street-level action than previous Spider-Man films in the MCU, it’s logical that Tombstone will be a major character. His story as a gangster could connect to other ongoing MCU storylines, similar to how Kingpin’s role as mayor of New York City and the Punisher’s fight against criminal organizations have been established.
1) Jean Grey – Rumored

I’m so excited to hear Sadie Sink is joining the cast of Spider-Man: Brand New Day! The big mystery, of course, is who she’ll be playing. There’s been a ton of speculation – everything from lesser-known Spider-Man baddies to major Marvel heroes. But the rumor that’s really got me thinking is that she might be Jean Grey. Seriously, if she’s playing Jean Grey, that would be huge! It would mean the X-Men are officially entering the MCU, and that’s something I’ve been waiting for forever. Jean Grey is such an important character, and it’d be amazing to see her story unfold in this new universe.
Sadie Sink is a well-known actress, so it’s logical she’d be cast in a significant role, potentially as one of the original X-Men. There’s also speculation that her character is being pursued by the Department of Damage Control (DODC). Given that shows like Ms. Marvel and Wonder Man have established the DODC’s interest in mutants, Sink’s character could very likely be one. However, some rumors hint she might play a villain, which would create a compelling storyline for Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
