Season 2 of *Gen V* further connects the show to *The Boys*, bringing back familiar faces and characters from the original series. While *Gen V* is set at Godolkin University, which gives it its own identity, it remains firmly within the same universe as *The Boys*. What happens in one show now clearly impacts the other, as we saw in both *Gen V* Season 1 and *The Boys* Season 4.
We’ve already seen characters from *The Boys* show up in *Gen V*, like Homelander, Victoria Neuman, and Ashley Barrett. And *Gen V* heroes Cate Dunlap and Sam Riodan appeared in Season 4 of *The Boys*. Since Season 2 of *Gen V* takes place between those events and Season 5, it makes sense that there are even more connections between the shows. Several characters from *The Boys* appear in the first three episodes of *Gen V* Season 2, and more appearances have already been revealed in promotional materials.
6) Starlight
At the end of Season 4 of *The Boys*, Starlight (Annie) got her superpowers back and managed to escape capture while the rest of her team wasn’t so lucky. Now she’s a fugitive, building a resistance movement against Homelander. Season 2 of *Gen V* shows her gaining support from a group of followers called the Starlighters, and Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair) steps in to protect them from other superpowered individuals. Eventually, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) joins the fight and helps Marie face off against the dangerous bounty hunter, Dogknott.
Beyond the thrilling fights, Annie reveals to Marie that she’s needed back at God U. They’re trying to crack the mystery of something called “Project Odessa” – we actually got a first glimpse of it in Season 4 of *The Boys*, and it looks like it’s tied to Marie’s past. How big a role Starlight will play is still up in the air, but considering she’s a fugitive, don’t expect consistent help – it’ll have to be when she can manage it.
5) The Deep
In Season 4 of *The Boys*, Chace Crawford’s Deep showed he’s still loyal to Homelander. But his connection to the story in Season 2 of *Gen V* comes from his fraternity. He’s a star member and is back to welcome new pledges as the school year starts. While it’s a smaller role for a character who’s a big villain in *The Boys*, it makes sense given his childish behavior and how he’s often been portrayed as something of a comedic figure.
4) Firecracker
Though introduced in the fourth season of *The Boys*, Firecracker (Valorie Curry) continues to impact the story. She doesn’t appear directly in *Gen V*, but hosts her show, *Truthbomb*. In Season 2, Episode 2, she announces the capture of the Starlighters who attacked Cate, which is actually a lie meant to cover up the truth. This action reinforces Firecracker’s role in supporting Homelander’s plans and spreading negativity towards humans with powers.
3) Sister Sage
Though Sister Sage (Susan Heyward) isn’t in the beginning of *Gen V* Season 2, a trailer revealed she’ll be appearing. She was a significant and powerful addition to *The Boys* recently, and while she doesn’t have typical superpowers, her incredible intelligence makes her dangerous. She’s working with Homelander and plays a crucial role in his plans for dominance.
It seems Marie Moreau will be back for more in *Gen V*. She’s shown receiving a call from Homelander, suggesting she’ll continue working on their plans and try to increase their power at Godolkin University.
2) Black Noir
Nathan Mitchell returns as Black Noir II, the latest version of the superhero team member, The Seven. As seen in promotional material for the show *Gen V*, he’s back in action. This Black Noir seems to have a slightly different personality – a quick shot shows him taking a selfie after defeating Polarity. His appearance suggests Homelander is trying to control the students at the school, and is using one of The Seven’s most dangerous members to do so.
1) Stan Edgar
Giancarlo Esposito returns as Stan Edgar, the former CEO of Vought, and this time he’s working to defeat Homelander. We only saw a quick glimpse of him in the trailer, so it’s unclear exactly what his role will be. However, considering his goal, he’ll likely join forces with the young Supes in *Gen V*, offering support as the challenges they face grow. This will probably connect directly to the upcoming fifth season of *The Boys* and the larger battle against Homelander.
The first three episodes of *Gen V* Season 2 are available now on Prime Video. Each Wednesday, a new episode will be released.
