Every Wednesday Season 2 Mystery That Part 2 Must Solve

After a long wait, Wednesday is back on Netflix for its much-anticipated second season! The main cast is back to continue the dark yet glorious journey at Nevermore Academy. With the first season’s incredible success, the series is taking it up a notch with even more mystery, monsters, and the classic dry humor that made Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) a beloved figure worldwide. Netflix has decided to split this season into two parts – the first four episodes will be available on August 6, 2025, followed by the remaining four on September 3, 2025.

In the first half of Season 2, the creators skillfully introduce a multitude of fresh dangers and add layers to the established backstory. This includes a puzzling new assassin haunting Nevermore and startling disclosures about past foes. With several key characters finding themselves in jeopardy and numerous hidden agendas being uncovered during the mid-season finale, we are left eagerly anticipating a thrilling resolution. As we await the remaining episodes, let’s delve into the main mysteries that Part 2 of Wednesday Season 2 needs to unravel.

1) Why Is Wednesday Having Trouble Controlling Her Psychic Abilities?

In the first season, Wednesday Addams started to develop her latent psychic abilities. These powers surfaced erratically and sometimes caused her discomfort due to unexpected and painful visions that were triggered by physical contact. Throughout her journey, she learned to accept this aspect of her family’s heritage, with the help of the spirit of her ancestor, Goody Addams (Ortega). By the end of the season, she gained possession of Goody’s important book of shadows.

The second season started with a glimpse of how much she had grown, as it became clear that she had utilized the book to enhance her psychic abilities so effectively that she could locate and identify an elusive serial killer known as the Kansas City Scalper (Haley Joel Osment). However, this newfound control over her powers is short-lived, as when she goes back to Nevermore Academy, her psychic abilities start to weaken.

On Wednesdays, Wednesday’s psychic abilities, crucial for her investigation into the new Avian killer, become a significant hindrance. Instead of providing clear visions, they either fail to manifest or the attempt results in tears of a dark hue – a physical indication of intense psychic stress, as recognized by Morticia (played by Catherine Zeta-Jones). This distressing development concerns her mother deeply, who shares that Wednesday’s aunt, Ophelia, succumbed to a total mental breakdown due to overexertion of her own psychic abilities. Fearing Wednesday might be following the same perilous path, Morticia endeavors to shield her from such a fate. The second part of the season is tasked with explaining the specific cause for this incapacitating loss of power and showing how Wednesday can reclaim full control without jeopardizing her mental health.

2) Was Marilyn Thornhill Really the Hyde’s Master?

In the first season of Wednesday, it’s unveiled that Marilyn Thornhill, the botany teacher at Nevermore Academy portrayed by Christina Ricci, is actually Laurel Gates – a vengeful relative of Jericho’s founder, Joseph Crackstone (played by William Houston). Throughout the season, she orchestrated numerous events from behind the scenes, leveraging her understanding of chemistry and psychological tactics to bring out the dark side within the amiable barista, Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan). However, the first season of Wednesday doesn’t disclose what happened to Marilyn following her schemes being thwarted by Wednesday and her companions.

In Season 2 of Wednesday, it’s disclosed that Thornhill has been apprehended for her misdeeds and maintains she wasn’t Hyde’s master. However, in the first part of the fresh season, she is relocated to Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital by its head psychiatrist, Dr. Fairburn (played by Thandiwe Newton). The hope is that her stay could spark a breakthrough in Tyler’s unsuccessful therapy.

In the mid-season finale, with Wednesday and Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen) causing havoc, Thornhill takes advantage of the chaos to release Tyler from his heavily guarded cell, hoping that her previous ally would join her in a revived plan to eliminate Wednesday. However, shockingly, Tyler morphs into Hyde and viciously slays Thornhill instead. This act appears as if the monster is turning on its tormentor, but there’s a crucial detail Thornhill revealed earlier: a Hyide killing its own master leads to its own doom. Yet, after killing Thornhill, nothing happens to Tyler, indicating that Thornhill may have been truthful all along. This new development raises questions about who is controlling Tyler and what Thornhill’s true intentions were within this broader conspiracy. Consequently, Part 2 needs to address these questions urgently.

3) What Is Judi’s Endgame?

In the concluding episode of Wednesday‘s Season 2, Part 1, it is disclosed that the bird-like murderer Wednesday has been pursuing none other than Judi, the administrator of Willow Hill (portrayed by Heather Matarazzo). This chase stems from a personal vendetta against Judi, as her father, Augustus Stonehurst, was a former science teacher at Nevermore Academy who became a patient at Willow Hill following a mental breakdown. The narrative unfolds to reveal that Augustus headed the clandestine Long-Term Outcast Integration Study (LOIS), a laboratory hidden in the basement of Willow Hill where Outcasts were held captive and subjected to experiments. This research aimed to discover a method for replicating Outcast powers and bestowing them upon Normies.

In one aspect, the LOIS experiments proved fruitful by turning Judi into an Avian. Yet, when Augustus endeavored to acquire telekinetic abilities, his mental state collapsed. Post his loss of consciousness, Judi continued her father’s work, even going so far as to kill former Sheriff Donovan Galpin (Jamie McShane) to protect her operation from exposure. After a climactic showdown with Wednesday (Jenna Ortega), Judi vanished from Willow Hill, leaving her whereabouts uncertain. The upcoming season’s second part is tasked with revealing Judi’s ultimate goal, the purpose behind her father’s research, and her current location.

4) Is the LOIS Patient Wednesday Freed Ophelia?

In the captivating first part of Season 2 of “Wednesday,” it is revealed that my beloved aunt Ophelia, sister to Morticia, found herself confined at Willow Hill due to her extraordinary psychic abilities becoming too powerful, a decision initiated by Grandmama Addams, played gracefully by Joanna Lumley. Despite Morticia’s ardent objections, this commitment took place. In the following period after her institutionalization, my cherished Uncle Fester bravely attempted to infiltrate the hospital with the noble intention of freeing Ophelia. However, he was informed that she had already managed to escape on her own. Fast-forwarding through two decades, as the events of Season 2 unfold, we learn that our elusive aunt Ophelia has been absent for these very same twenty years.

In their showdown with Judi at Willow Hill, Fester and Wednesday liberate a multitude of Outcasts imprisoned within the clandestine LOIS labs. Among these freed individuals is a woman who sports a pale complexion, long dark tresses, and resembles the Addams family in appearance. These events raise the distinct possibility that Ophelia, thought to have escaped, was actually relocated to the LOIS labs for experimental purposes all along. If the woman Wednesday freed is indeed Ophelia, her reemergence could aid Wednesday in unraveling the truth about her family and her unique psychic talents.

5) Who Is Slurp? And How Is He Connected to Augustus Stonehurst?

In the first night of the new academic year at Nevermore, Ajax (Georgie Farmer) narrates a tale about a brilliant student who attended this school. As legend has it, this boy was constantly inventing new machines and conducting experiments, but one tragic night, his creations backfired. The story also mentions that he swapped his biological heart with a mechanical one and was interred in an anonymous grave at the base of the Skull Tree. It is said that you can still hear the ticking sound of his metal heart coming from there. To demonstrate his bravery, Pugsley Addams (Isaac Ordonez) decides to go to the Skull Tree by himself. By accident, his hidden electrical powers bring the buried body back to life. This incident resurrects a zombie, whom Pugsley nicknames Slurp (Owen Painter).

During the initial episodes of Season 2, Slurp consumes the brains of his victims, a gruesome process that helps him rejuvenate his decaying body and regain his mental faculties. Once his actions are exposed, Slurp is transferred to Willow Hill. In a twist during Fester and Wednesday’s breakout from Judi, they inadvertently aid Slurp’s own escape. As the mid-season finale draws to a close, Slurp is spotted lurking around Augustus Stonehurst. With his voice restored, Slurp addresses Augustus as an “old acquaintance” before consuming his brain. The second half of Wednesday Season 2 will delve into the identity of Slurp when he was alive and his connection to Augustus Stonehurst.
