Every Wonder Girl in DC Comics History, Ranked

Wonder Woman is the most famous female superhero in comic books, and as one of DC Comics’ leading characters, she’s inspired many other women. While less well-known than some other sidekicks, the characters who take on the Wonder Girl name are important to Wonder Woman’s story, highlighting themes of female strength and the bonds between women. Often possessing incredible powers due to their Amazonian heritage, these teenage heroes are among the strongest in the DC Universe. But their greatest power isn’t their strength – it’s their kindness and dedication to helping others, mirroring Wonder Woman’s own values. They are key to continuing the Amazons’ goal of creating a more peaceful world.

The title of Wonder Girl is given to only the most virtuous Amazonian women – those dedicated to defending humanity and demonstrating the importance of truth and compassion, even at the cost of their own lives.

6) Yuri and Yuki Katsura

I’m a big fan of the DC Bombshells universe, and it’s such a cool take on those classic heroes during World War II. It really got me when Wonder Woman seemingly sacrificed herself saving people from Clayface. It was amazing to see how that act inspired a whole new generation, and a team called the Wonder Girls rose up to carry on her legacy. We already knew Donna Troy and Cassie Sandsmark, but the introduction of the twin sisters, Yuri and Yuki Katsura, was a nice touch. They weren’t superpowered, but they were given copies of Wonder Woman’s iconic Bracelets of Submission and Lasso of Truth. Even though they didn’t show up in a ton of stories, I always felt like Yuri and Yuki really highlighted how Wonder Woman’s influence lived on, even after she was gone. It was a beautiful way to show her lasting impact.

5) Lizzie Prince

Lizzie Prince, the daughter of Wonder Woman, was destined to become a hero, first known as Wonder Girl and later as Trinity. Created from clay and imbued with pieces of her parents’ spirits – Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor – Lizzie inherited their selfless nature. She’s skilled in all forms of combat, trained by the Amazons, and carries three powerful Lassos of Fate. Currently an infant, Lizzie shares a close friendship with Jon Kent and Damian Wayne, and future visions reveal she will become a unique and powerful superhero in her own right, carrying on the Wonder Girl legacy.

4) Diana of Themyscira

It’s easy to forget that Wonder Woman actually started as Wonder Girl! Back in the early days of DC comics, they published stories about a teenage version of Diana, and even tales of her as a toddler, calling her Wonder Tot. Even when she was young and a bit impulsive, Diana always showed great kindness and understanding, even towards those she fought. Although these stories were later changed during the Crisis on Infinite Earths reboot, Wonder Woman occasionally remembers her youth on Themyscira when she went by the name Wonder Girl.

3) Yara Flor

As a critic, I have to say Yara Flor is a truly exciting addition to the DC Universe. This modern Wonder Girl, the daughter of an Amazon and a Brazilian River God, burst onto the scene and immediately grabbed my attention. She didn’t waste any time proving herself, taking on and defeating Olympian gods with impressive speed and skill. Her signature weapon, the Golden Boleadoras, is incredibly versatile – she can either subdue opponents with a single hit or even take control of their minds. It’s no surprise she quickly earned a place among the Amazons of Themyscira and became a vital ally to Wonder Woman herself. In fact, in the ‘Future State’ timeline, she even becomes the new Wonder Woman when Diana disappears! Honestly, Yara is one of the best new heroes DC has given us in the last decade, and I can’t wait to see what adventures await her.

2) Cassie Sandsmark

Cassandra Sandsmark, also known as Wonder Girl, quickly became a prominent hero when she first appeared. Growing up, Cassie admired Wonder Woman, as her mother, an archaeologist, was close friends with the Amazonian princess. Determined to become a hero like her idol, Cassie initially gained powers by taking the Sandals of Hermes for flight and the Gauntlets of Atlas for super-strength. She strived to follow in Wonder Woman’s footsteps with these magical items. Later, Cassie’s father, Zeus, recognized her bravery and gave her the powers of a demigoddess. Having since put aside the sandals and gauntlets, Cassie is now a trusted friend of Wonder Woman and a key member of teams like Young Justice and the Teen Titans.

1) Donna Troy

Donna Troy might have a complicated and often confusing origin story, but she remains the definitive Wonder Girl. Whether portrayed as Wonder Woman’s sister or a clone, Donna consistently fights alongside her as a powerful ally. She was Wonder Woman’s very first sidekick, and the two share a remarkably strong connection. Beyond that, Donna is famous as a founding member of the Teen Titans, where she inspired many young heroes, even leading the team for a while. Though her history is complex, Donna has always been defined by her incredible strength, compassion, and unwavering dedication to protecting those in need.
