Every X-Men Character Confirmed for Marvel’s Wolverine Game

Insomniac’s Marvel’s Wolverine has been a highly awaited game for the PlayStation 5. Following Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the development team decided to focus on a different Marvel character, ultimately choosing Logan. While years passed with limited updates from Insomniac, a leak provided a glimpse of early gameplay and some potential details. The September PlayStation State of Play finally gave fans a detailed look at Wolverine, showcasing who will voice the famous character and highlighting its intense, brutal combat. Insomniac also revealed several characters that will appear in Wolverine and hinted at a few more.

The Marvel universe is filled with many characters, but fans are most anticipating seeing Wolverine’s X-Men teammates and other mutants in the game. While this still leaves a lot of possibilities for who could show up, the trailer has already given us a glimpse of some characters. We’ll likely learn more at a showcase planned for Spring 2026, but here’s a list of every X-Men character confirmed to be in Wolverine so far.

Wolverine

I’m so excited, of course Wolverine is going to be a huge part of the game – he *is* the main character! I’ve been watching the gameplay trailer, and Insomniac is really going all-in on how brutal he is. You see Logan just tearing through enemies with those adamantium claws, it’s incredible! But it’s not *just* about the fighting, either. They’re really going to dig into who Logan is as a person, and all the stuff he’s dealing with. You can already see the rage, the pain, the loss – everything – in Liam McIntyre’s performance. We don’t know the whole story yet, but Insomniac has said we’ll be investigating the dark secrets of Logan’s past, which sounds amazing!

Omega Red

A particularly exciting reveal was the villain Omega Red. This makes a lot of sense, as he’s been a consistent and long-standing enemy of Wolverine’s. Omega Red has the ability to steal life force from opponents, and can even kill them using his deadly spores. He’s a very powerful villain who will be a great match for Wolverine, and his personality will nicely contrast with Wolverine’s wild nature. Given how ruthless Omega Red is, he’s a fitting addition to Marvel’s Wolverine, especially as Insomniac aims to explore the more violent parts of Logan’s past.

Mystique

While Omega Red is definitely an enemy players will encounter in Wolverine, Mystique’s part in the story is more unclear. This mutant, who can change her shape, often switches sides, sometimes helping Logan and other times becoming the target of his attacks throughout their shared history. Insomniac has hinted that certain mutants will assist Logan, and Mystique appears to be one of them. However, this doesn’t guarantee her loyalty, much like Black Cat in Insomniac’s Spider-Man games. Her ability to disguise herself, combined with her fighting skills, makes her a dangerous opponent or a valuable teammate, and her involvement in the story is expected to be particularly compelling.

Sentinels

Insomniac only gave a brief glimpse of this dangerous mutant threat, and it seems to be an early version, but even that presents a huge problem for Logan. Sentinels were created to find and eliminate mutants, and adding them to Wolverine significantly increases the danger. Wolverine usually operates alone, except when he’s with the X-Men, but the Sentinels make it clear that this conflict is much larger than just him. We’ll have to wait and see how these enemies appear in the game, but they definitely suggest epic, large-scale battles, in contrast to the more personal and gritty fights against mutants like Omega Red.

Jean Grey

Although it hasn’t been officially announced, previous leaks suggested that Jean Grey will appear in Wolverine. She’s expected to be a playable character, similar to how MJ was in Marvel’s Spider-Man. Given her past relationship with Logan, this makes sense, and her powers could create some compelling gameplay scenarios. However, it’s best to remain cautious about these leaks until an official reveal. We might see confirmation of this iconic mutant at Insomniac’s Spring showcase.

Many other X-Men characters could potentially appear. Sabretooth is an obvious pick, given his history as Wolverine’s famous foe. Magneto also makes sense, and Mystique’s inclusion suggests we might see the Master of Magnetism, even if just briefly. Plus, any X-Men story feels incomplete without Charles Xavier. It would be strange not to feature Professor X, perhaps in a flashback or communicating with Logan through telepathy.

Although these are just guesses, the Reaver enemy group offers a strong clue about other characters we might see. These enemies come from the Hellfire Club, a team of influential mutants that has historically included figures like Sebastian Shaw and Emma Frost. It’s possible that one of them, or another member of the club, will serve as the main villain in Wolverine. The group’s roster has changed often, but if these Reavers are the same ones, fans can probably anticipate encountering a mutant from the Hellfire Club.
