Over the past few years, publishers at Microsoft have been actively working to expand their games beyond the Xbox platform. This shift might lead to some confusion among loyal Xbox users due to the diminishing exclusivity of popular titles, but it also opens up new opportunities for Microsoft by reaching various other audiences. One such significant audience is Sony’s massive player base on the PlayStation 5, which happens to be one of the most successful platforms in recent times. The decision to release games on multiple platforms has resulted in a notable increase in sales for Xbox. Although PlayStation 5 users don’t yet have access to all Xbox games, Microsoft is continually moving closer to making that a possibility.
On PlayStation 5, you can find a variety of Xbox games, all listed here in alphabetical order for your convenience.
1) Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition

- Release Date – May 6th, 2026
The 1999 original game Age of Empires II has been upgraded to offer a stunning 4K resolution in its Definitive Edition. This updated version boasts an enhanced AI system, more sophisticated than the original, yet you have the freedom to switch between the two AI types whenever you prefer. Developers World’s Edge and Forgotten Empires have also made several user-friendly improvements and added four new campaigns, ensuring both newcomers and long-time fans will find plenty to enjoy in this impressive bundle.
2) Age of Mythology: Retold

- Release Date – March 4th, 2025
Similar to Age of Empires II, Age of Mythology: Retold is a remaster that boasts revamped units and animations, leaving many players awestruck. The enhanced graphics have been well-received, as has the intuitive, modernized user interface. Interestingly, the PlayStation 5 version was released concurrently with the Immortal Pillars DLC (expansion featuring the Chinese pantheon). However, players will need to wait until September 30th, 2025, to purchase the Heavenly Spear pack and unlock the Japanese pantheon. This is different from Age of Empires II, which was launched with most content already accessible.
3) As Dusk Falls

- Release Date – March 7th, 2024
In simpler terms, the game titled “As Dusk Falls,” created by Interior Night, shares similarities with choice-based games such as “The Walking Dead” and “Life is Strange.” Although its artistic style stands out and overall contributes effectively to the game, it falls short of reaching its full potential. Despite this, it remains a strong adventure game with exceptional voice acting and a thoughtful narrative that tackles mature themes.
4) Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

- Release Date – October 25th, 2024
In simple terms, Black Ops 6 took some daring steps in its solo storyline. While Treyarch didn’t revolutionize the shooter campaign genre, they did introduce enough fresh features to keep it engaging. The game frequently changes direction within the campaign, keeping players intrigued and craving more. Additionally, the multiplayer component keeps pushing boundaries with the introduction of omnidirectional movement. Lastly, the Zombies mode once again delights fans due to its exaggerated style and exceptional map layout.
5) Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III

- Release Date – November 10th, 2025
In contrast to Black Ops 6, Sledgehammer’s latest Call of Duty title did not achieve the same level of success. The campaign for Modern Warfare 3 drew criticism, particularly due to its open-world missions that were perceived as being hastily assembled, almost like a combination of Warzone. Furthermore, fans didn’t find the open-world Zombies mode appealing; they preferred the traditional map-based version. Despite this, it did manage to sell well, but in the past decade, this is one of the rare instances where Call of Duty did not claim the top spot on the year-end sales charts, giving way to Hogwarts Legacy.
6) Diablo 4

- Release Date – October 7th, 2024
Fans found themselves disillusioned with Diablo 3 initially due to a rocky launch and what seemed to be an immature progression of the franchise. However, Blizzard made amends by releasing one of its most intense games ever, surpassing expectations with its compelling narrative and exceptional endgame. Upon the release of Diablo 4, all five character classes were found to be equally engaging from the get-go, bringing joy to many. Nevertheless, there were some drawbacks. Blizzard integrated numerous microtransactions and a season pass into the game. Similarly to Diablo 3, Diablo 4 cannot be played offline, which was another point of contention for some fans.
7) Doom: The Dark Ages

- Release Date – May 15th, 2025
In my opinion as a dedicated fan, the freshly released Doom game offers an entirely new perspective compared to its predecessors like Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal. Instead of the high-flying, acrobatic combat, this time around, it feels like I’m behind the wheels of a formidable tank character – the Doom Slayer. The enhanced melee combat options let me get up close and personal with the hordes from Hell in a more grounded, powerful experience. To top it off, Doom: The Dark Ages delivers on spectacle better than most games in the series, giving players the chance to ride a cybernetic dragon and control a gigantic 30-story mech during select combat sequences!
8) Forza Horizon 5

- Release Date – April 29th, 2025
As a dedicated fan, I can attest that Forza Horizon 5 was undeniably profitable for Microsoft upon its release across Xbox platforms and PC in 2021. The masterminds at Playground Games have kept the open-world racing game thriving with a wealth of post-launch content, and the PS5 edition is no exception – it even temporarily held the top spot on the PlayStation sales charts! This could be the first Forza installment to grace a non-Microsoft platform, but the exhilarating journey through Mexico remains just as enjoyable regardless of your console preference.
9) Gears of War: Reloaded

- Release Date – August 26th, 2025
If you found it surprising that Forza appeared on PlayStation, Microsoft has taken it up a notch, introducing Gears of War to PS5 for the first time. The freshly remastered version, titled Gears of War: Reloaded, promises stunning 4K resolution and a smooth single-player experience at 60FPS, while multiplayer action cranks up to an impressive 120FPS. In addition, gamers can look forward to enjoying all post-launch DLC content, including bonus campaigns and extra multiplayer maps. What’s more, players will have the option for cross-platform play in multiplayer and co-op, as they create a Microsoft account.
10) Ghostwire: Tokyo

- Release Date – March 25th, 2022
Ghostwire, which Bethesda initially announced as exclusive to PlayStation consoles before being acquired by Microsoft, was first released on the PS5. Despite now being owned by Microsoft, it eventually made its way to Xbox platforms. The game itself is peculiar and has a sluggish movement system and shallow combat mechanics. However, its presentation and side quests are uniquely strange, although not for everyone’s taste. If you’re a fan of Tango Gameworks, it’s worth giving Ghostwire a try.
11) Grounded

- Release Date – April 16th, 2024
This team-oriented survival game draws inspiration from the movie “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids”. In the game called “Grounded”, you control a character who has been reduced to ant size and must learn to survive within a backyard. Since the game’s spiders pose a significant challenge, it is highly recommended to play with friends for added support. Developer Obsidian introduced “Grounded 2” into early access on July 29th, 2025, though it hasn’t been confirmed for release on PlayStation 5 as of yet.
12) Hi-Fi Rush

- Release Date – March 19th, 2024
The rhythm-action game titled “Hi-Fi Rush,” developed by Tango Gameworks, received numerous positive reviews due to its stunning graphics, engaging combat, and strong comedic elements. Despite this, Microsoft decided to close the studio in May 2024. Fortunately, the team was reopened under Krafton a few months later, which means “Hi-Fi Rush” may continue to be developed.
13) Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

- Release Date – April 17th, 2025
In late 2024, the release of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was both critically acclaimed and financially successful. When Microsoft announced its arrival on PlayStation a few months later, anticipation ran high that it would continue its success – and it did just that. The Great Circle topped the PS5 sales charts during its debut week, ultimately ranking as the sixth best-selling game of April 2025. With the release of DLC for The Order of Giants on September 4th, 2025, there’s little doubt MachineGames will see even greater sales for their well-crafted Indy title.
14) Minecraft Legends

- Release Date – April 18th, 2023
In simpler terms, “Minecraft Legends” is an action-strategy game suitable for all ages, where players work together to protect the Minecraft universe from invading hordes of creatures called Piglins who come from another dimension, the Nether. Although some veteran gamers might find it less complex compared to other games in this genre, newcomers to Minecraft are getting acquainted with a fresh style of gameplay, which is generally a good thing.
15) Pentiment

- Release Date – February 22nd, 2024
Despite Obsidian Games’ reputation for role-playing games, it’s the murder mystery game, Pentiment, set in 16th-century Bavaria that has won fans hearts. The visual style of Pentiment is stunningly beautiful, and its narrative effectively creates the impression of choice without compromising the gripping storyline. You’ll never have enough time to explore every clue, which makes each choice significant. Though you can’t technically fail, the tale unfolded over 25 years remains intriguing nonetheless.
16) Sea of Thieves

- Release Date – April 30th, 2024
Initially, Sea of Thieves by Developer Rare was a simple pirate action-adventure game. However, the team persevered and delivered an abundance of post-launch content to maintain the excitement on the high seas, occasionally enticing newcomers as well. Starting from 2024, PS5 players could immerse themselves in this rich gameplay experience right away upon launch.
17) Senua Saga: Hellblade II

- Release Date – August 12th, 2025
Similar to the initial “Hellblade”, “Senua’s Saga” showcases stunning visuals and an outstanding portrayal from its main character. Adding top-notch audio design, “Hellblade 2” transforms into a compelling play experience for enthusiasts who appreciate cinematic gaming. Also, with a playtime of roughly six hours, it’s perfectly suited for a free weekend. However, be aware that the narrative is mature and doesn’t shy away from delving into more complex, potentially challenging themes.
18) The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered

- Release Date – April 22nd, 2025
The updated version of Bethesda’s original game does a great job of modernizing both its graphics and leveling system. Fortunately, the PS5 version experiences fewer technical issues compared to the PC version, although it did have some problems initially. However, it’s worth noting that more copies of Oblivion Remastered were sold during its first week than the original game managed in its first 15 months after release.
19) The Elder Scrolls Online

- Release Date – June 15th, 2021
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but share my excitement about “The Elder Scrolls Online” being one of the games that graced the PS5 screens even before Bethesda got acquired by Microsoft. Remarkably, despite the change in ownership, the publisher has consistently stood by the PlayStation community, ensuring the game’s continued support on our beloved platform.
In 2024, we were gifted with the “Gold Road” expansion, setting the stage for an unexpected transformation. The team subsequently announced a shift in their release strategy, moving towards a more adaptable schedule to cater to players’ craving for fresh, experimental content.
20) Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4

- Release Date – July 11th, 2025
Upon the release of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, gamers were thrilled but harbored doubts about whether a sequel, 3+4, would materialize. This uncertainty deepened when the developer Vicarious Visions was reassigned to work on Diablo 4. However, fortunately, Iron Galaxy Studios joined the team to deliver another fantastic remaster of the original games. Unfortunately, the levels for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 are no longer open-world, but aficionados of this legendary skating series can still appreciate its top-notch gameplay mechanics and innovative level design. It remains to be seen if Microsoft will encourage the developers to continue their work and roll out Tony Hawk’s Underground 1+2 in the coming years.
