Everything Coming to HBO Max in October 2025

HBO Max is kicking off October with a huge lineup of new movies and TV shows. They recently announced the full list of titles coming to the streaming service next month. October promises to be a busy month for HBO Max, featuring two brand new, eagerly awaited HBO Originals.

I’m so excited for October! On the 12th, Tim Robinson and Zach Kanin – the geniuses behind *I Think You Should Leave* – are releasing a new show called *The Chair Company*. It’s supposed to be a really funny and twisty conspiracy story. And then, just a couple weeks after that, on October 26th, HBO is giving us *IT: Welcome to Derry*, a spin-off from Stephen King’s *IT*. It’s going to be a great month for TV!

October 1st

As a huge movie and TV fan, I’ve been compiling a list of everything I’ve been watching lately, and it’s pretty diverse! It includes everything from classic horror like *A Nightmare on Elm Street*, *The Exorcist*, and *The Shining*, to more recent scares like *Talk to Me* and *X*. I’m also into thrillers like *Gone Girl* and *Uncut Gems*. There’s a good mix of fun stuff too, like the *Scooby-Doo* movies and even *Zombies on Broadway*! I’ve been revisiting some older films like *Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde* and *The Mummy*, and I’ve also enjoyed some quirky picks like *Marcel the Shell with Shoes* and *Tickled*. Plus, I’ve caught up on some series like *The Walking Dead*. It’s a pretty long list, but it shows just how much great stuff there is to watch – something for everyone, really! I’ve also enjoyed some biographical documentaries like *Paddy Chayefsky: Collector of Words* and *All Eyez on Me*.

October 2nd

The Substance, available on MUBI, follows Elisabeth Sparkle, a once-famous actress whose career is fading. She’s unexpectedly fired from her fitness show by the unpleasant Harvey, a studio executive.

HBO’s *The Alabama Solution* follows filmmakers who began documenting a prison revival meeting in Alabama in 2019. Soon after, they received secret messages from inmates warning of abuse and cover-ups. This led to a six-year investigation into one of the most dangerous prison systems in the country. With access to smuggled cell phone footage, the filmmakers uncovered details of a suspicious death and realized it was part of a much larger pattern of violence and corruption. The film reveals a shocking story of brutality within a collapsing system, and how the incarcerated men fought back against impossible odds to expose the truth.
