‘Everything Had Been Going Smoothly’: Prince of Persia PS5 Remake Actress Found Out About Cancellation from Family

An actress involved in the scrapped PlayStation 5 remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time learned about its cancellation through a WhatsApp message.

Eman Ayaz recently shared a video on YouTube discussing her disappointment after a three-year project was canceled. While she couldn’t name the game due to a confidentiality agreement, it’s widely understood she’s referring to the Ubisoft title she was working on.

Although she understands others are facing much bigger challenges, she’s being open about how upset she is by the cancellation and the pain it’s caused her.

She mentioned filming promotional material for the game just under two months ago, suggesting it was nearly complete. This supports the rumors that it would be released this month, January 2026.

She said:

I’ve been working on this project for the past three years, and in that time, the team has become like a second family to me. I’ve seen it develop and improve through every step of the process, and I’m thrilled to finally be able to share it with everyone after waiting so long for its release.

I learned this week, through an online article, that the project was cancelled. My brother texted me on WhatsApp to check if I was alright. I asked him why he was concerned, and he sent me the link to the article, which confirmed the project had been permanently stopped.

It’s understandable that the cancellation came as a shock to the Ubisoft team, and it’s likely Ayaz wasn’t informed before the news became public. She herself says everything seemed to be going well and they were on track to release the game this year.

This is especially challenging for Ayaz, as this project represents a major opportunity for her to prove herself.

She explained:

I was really counting on this project launching my career. I’d made detailed plans, even consulting with lawyers about a work visa for the US, hoping to move there once it was released and gained publicity. Unfortunately, with the project cancelled and my involvement now secret, those plans are no longer possible.

Actually, the video isn’t sad at all. Ayaz is upset, but she’s determined to stay positive. She understands that setbacks happen in the entertainment world and plans to keep pursuing her goals.

This situation definitely makes you wonder what happened. If the game was nearly complete after so much time and money was spent, why wasn’t it simply released to at least try and earn back some of that investment?

It’s concerning that Ubisoft struggled to finish a remake of a PlayStation 2 game, especially since fan demand for it isn’t likely to disappear.
