You might have heard rumors about a possible third expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt coming out this year, so it’s a bit odd that CD Projekt RED hasn’t said anything about it. They have announced a new game is coming later in the year, but they haven’t revealed what it is yet.
During a recent earnings call, an investor inquired about the company’s marketing plans, specifically asking if they were considering a prolonged campaign or a surprise release. Co-CEO Michał Nowakowski replied that while anything is possible, they generally prefer longer marketing campaigns for their games, as they’ve found those to be more effective than quick, event-based launches. He indicated they’re leaning towards a more sustained marketing effort.
Basically, if the rumors about new content for The Witcher 3 are true, don’t anticipate a surprise release. However, it’s still unclear how far in advance of its launch any announcement might be – it could be weeks or even months.
The company’s Chief Financial Officer, Piotr Nielubowicz, confirmed they need to generate 527 million zloty – about $143 million – to achieve their profit target. He stressed that this is a challenging goal, but remains attainable thanks to strong sales of existing content and upcoming new releases.
Considering the continued success of games like Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and the recent milestone of Phantom Liberty exceeding 10 million sales, a new project from this developer would likely be a huge hit. The big question now is when they’ll officially announce it.
According to an analyst speaking with Strefa Inwestorów, the game is likely to release in the third quarter of 2026, considering the anticipated November launch of Grand Theft Auto 6. They suggest September would be an ideal release month, capitalizing on the “back to school” season. Mateusz Chrzanowski, an analyst at Noble Securities, predicts a May release with a price tag of $30, but believes any announcement would need to happen in April.
CD Projekt RED is actively developing both The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2, having expanded their teams to work on both games. They’re also making headway on a new, unannounced project called Project Hadar, currently in the prototyping phase.
