Everything Wrong With Battlefield 6

After selling over seven million copies in just three days, *Battlefield 6* is a huge success and a welcome return for the series. While the game is incredibly popular, it has some flaws, particularly in its multiplayer mode where most players spend their time. Here’s a look at ten of the biggest complaints from dedicated players, and what the developers are doing to fix them.

Map Size

Players were very clear during the beta test: they want bigger maps. Even the largest current maps feel cramped, especially in the 64-player Conquest mode. The developers said they intentionally used smaller maps for testing purposes, but the current release doesn’t suggest they’ll be addressing this. These smaller maps limit the exciting vehicle combat the game is known for. DICE has updated maps before, as they did with *Battlefield 2042*, so there’s a chance they might do so again. For now, we’ll have to wait and see if the map included in Season 1 offers a better experience.

Conquest Ticket Changes

The recent changes to Battlefield’s Conquest mode are frustrating. Not only do the maps fail to capture the epic feel of the mode, but the reduction in starting tickets—intended to prevent matches from hitting the time limit—actually clashes with what makes Conquest enjoyable. Things like using vehicles, careful planning, and strategic teamwork are now discouraged in favor of a rushed, frantic pace. DICE is watching player feedback and game data, suggesting this change isn’t final, but it’s a strange adjustment for sure.

Medic Woes

The Medic class is often debated among players. Many complain that Medics don’t consistently revive or help teammates after bringing them back to life, instead abandoning them. Others play Medic solely for its quick healing and resupply abilities, focusing on personal gain rather than team support. While this self-serving playstyle can be effective, it’s frustrating for others. It’s unclear how the game developers, DICE, will encourage Medics to prioritize helping their team.

UI Issues

Honestly, the user interface is still a huge pain point for me, even after all the feedback they got. From the moment I boot up the game – whether I’m picking a campaign, jumping into multiplayer, or checking out Portal – it just feels clunky and not very user-friendly. Finding new stuff I’ve unlocked is a real hassle. And don’t even get me started on skins! It’s way too complicated – I have to pick a class, *then* the character within that class, just to apply a skin. And if it doesn’t work right, you’re basically stuck figuring it out by just randomly clicking things. It’s not like the in-game HUD is any better, but the whole UI experience is easily one of the worst I’ve seen in a big-budget game.

Optics

Often overlooked in shooting games, good sights are crucial – frustrating sights make aiming a real chore. Unfortunately, many of the sights in *Battlefield 6* aren’t very good. Some red dot sights are so dim it’s hard to follow your targets (and issues with visual bloom and registering hits make it worse). Their size also contributes to the problem. It’s disappointing that you can’t customize the aiming reticle, as *Overwatch* allowed this years ago. *Battlefield 4* even had similar features, so there’s no real reason why *Battlefield 6* doesn’t.

Challenge Requirements

It’s tricky designing good challenges. They need to be difficult enough to be engaging, but not so hard that players get frustrated. Currently, some challenges need a lot of work, especially those tied to unlocking new items. For example, one challenge requires intercepting 100 projectiles with a specific system, which is already a bit obscure, and then achieving a score of 40,000. Another asks for 300 sniper rifle kills, which sounds manageable, but *also* requires over 200 of those kills to be headshots at distances exceeding 200 meters. Even if you have the skill, there simply aren’t enough maps with long enough views to realistically complete it.

Rush

It’s worth reiterating that the current Rush mode isn’t quite as exciting as it used to be. Although the maps have been updated to try and create fairer matches, the 24-player limit and the way the game flows just don’t capture the chaotic, quick action that fans remember. Given how often this mode appears and disappears, a version supporting 32 players on a new map seems likely down the line, but right now, it feels like a weaker version of its past self.

The Progression Grind

It’s always been an issue in games like Portal that players look for ways to quickly gain experience points to get ahead or make challenges easier. But in Battlefield 6, punishing players for doing this feels unfair, especially because leveling up normally is so slow. Earning new skins or gear shouldn’t feel like a tedious task, but rather a satisfying reward for the time you put in. And if you played fairly and didn’t use those experience-boosting methods, you’re at a disadvantage compared to those who did.

Bloom and Hit Registration Issues

Even if you’re not happy with other aspects of the game, the core gameplay itself is enjoyable. The weapons feel great to use, and moving around is smooth, even though players and developers disagree on the best way it should work. However, frustrating problems with the game’s accuracy and registering hits are dragging it down. Sometimes, even when you aim directly at an enemy and fire repeatedly, the shots don’t connect – but enemies seem to hit you instantly. The developers have acknowledged these issues, confirming that unintended problems with how the game handles weapon spread are to blame. They’re working on a quick fix to address this.

No Naval Warfare

Despite offering a lot of new features, *Battlefield 6* is missing some content from older games. Many players have noticed the absence of naval combat, which feels strange considering the game’s focus on total war and the inclusion of vehicles like planes and tanks. The developers have acknowledged player requests for this feature, and recent discoveries by Insider Gaming suggest that Jet Skis and inflatable boats might be added to the game. While there’s no official release date, it’s a promising sign that these features could be implemented eventually, though it might take some time.
