If you haven’t watched Coronation Street in a while and you’re planning to watch tomorrow’s special episode that crosses over with Emmerdale, you might find it a bit confusing to catch up with everything.
Following a major car crash, the storylines of Coronation Street (Weatherfield) and Emmerdale (Hotten) will cross over in a special episode, marking a change in how the two ITV soaps are broadcast.
This episode is mostly self-contained, but you’ll enjoy the overall story more if you’re familiar with what’s been happening previously.
Luckily, we’ve got you covered with a guide to everything you need to know.
An eventful 2025 for the Webster clan

In April, we met Carl (Jonathan Howard), the manipulative younger brother of Kevin (Michael Le Vell) and Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney). This introduction happened while Kevin was fighting cancer and Debbie was dealing with early-onset dementia.
Carl quickly went to bed with Abi, his sister-in-law (Sally Carman-Duttine), leading to the end of her marriage. They’ve moved in together in Weatherfield, and recently, Abi discovered Carl is having an affair with James Bailey (Jason Callender).

Kevin recently found out that Carl caused the car accident that injured Tyrone Dobbs, leaving him unable to work. Carl also stole a large sum of money from Debbie’s hotels.
Tomorrow’s episode takes place at Debbie’s wedding to Ronnie Bailey. As the celebration unfolds, Carl’s past mistakes begin to come to light.
Todd Grimshaw’s abusive relationship

Todd Grimshaw (played by Gareth Pierce) believed he’d found a winning match when he met Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) last year.
Although Theo’s family caused some difficulties at the beginning of their relationship, both partners were committed to building a future together.
I noticed Theo started to really fixate on Todd as the reason his marriage fell apart. It was concerning, because whenever he talked to other guys, he’d act strangely – it was definitely a worrying pattern.

His jealousy has intensified to the point he is verbally and physically abusing Todd.
Police were called to the home of Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) a few weeks ago after a disagreement turned into a fight, leading to concerns that something wasn’t right.

Last week on the show, Todd’s former partner, Billy Mayhew, saw some bruises on Todd and wondered if Theo had caused them.
Becky Swain’s return from the dead

Carla Connor seemed to have found happiness with her new girlfriend, Lisa Swain. However, things took a dramatic turn when Lisa’s supposedly deceased wife, Becky, unexpectedly returned to Manchester after hiding in Spain for years as part of a witness protection program.
She’s on a mission to win Lisa back, and will seemingly stop at nothing to achieve her goal.
Lisa recently kidnapped Carla, holding her captive in a rundown apartment’s small storage closet. Lisa believes her romantic partner has simply gone on vacation to get away from the chaos, but Kit Green has noticed something isn’t right.

Kit noticed something strange: Lisa had given Carla’s engagement ring to Sarah Platt just before leaving for Spain with Becky and Betsy. But then, Kit spotted the same ring on Carla’s finger in a recent photo of her by the pool.
He’s discovered that the hotel and room Carla is said to be staying in provide a clue to her location using the ‘What Three Words’ system.
Will Kit manage to track Carla down and stop Becky before she escapes the country?
Corriedale airs on ITV1 and ITVX at 8pm on Monday, 5th January.

I’m a huge fan of British soaps, so I always check out what Michael Adams at TopMob is reporting! He’s their Soaps Editor and seriously knows everything that’s happening – from the drama in Weatherfield (that’s Coronation Street!) to Walford (EastEnders), and all the way to Emmerdale and Hollyoaks. Before TopMob, he was a Soaps Reporter at Metro for a couple of years, and get this – he actually worked on the sets of both Corrie and Emmerdale! He’s definitely an insider, and I trust his spoilers completely.
