As a huge Godzilla fan, I really enjoyed seeing the King of the Monsters travel across the US last year in IDW’s Godzilla vs. America! It was a cool series of comics where Godzilla basically went on a road trip, causing mayhem in cities like Boston, LA, and even Kansas City. What made it even better was that each comic featured stories and art from local creators in those cities. We saw Godzilla have a bit of a Hollywood moment, try some Chicago deep-dish pizza (and definitely not have a tea party!), and get covered in BBQ sauce. But his American adventure isn’t over – and it’s about to get even bigger!
IDW Publishing has revealed that Godzilla will be battling it out in Texas in a new comic book, Godzilla vs. America: Texas. Known for its larger-than-life everything, Texas will truly be tested when Godzilla arrives in May. The comic goes on sale May 13th, and you can pre-order it starting April 6th. ComicBook has the first look at the covers for this exciting new installment!
Godzilla Is Headed Deep Into the Heart of Texas (And By That He Means All of It)
Unlike previous ‘Godzilla vs. America’ stories, and the upcoming ‘Godzilla vs. America: Portland’, ‘Godzilla vs. Texas’ isn’t focused on just one city. This time, Godzilla is battling the entire state of Texas! We understand Texas is large, offering plenty of challenges. It’s yet to be seen what kind of destruction will happen, or even if Godzilla will prefer Kansas City BBQ over the Texas variety.
IDW’s new comic, Godzilla vs. Texas, promises a monstrously big adventure! Godzilla isn’t just hitting one Texas city – he’s stomping across the whole state! Will the local cowboys be able to handle the King of Monsters? This comic features four 10-page stories from a team of talented Texas-based comic creators, including Matt Frank (known for Mothra and Godzilla: Rulers of Earth), and more!
It’s a Great Time to be a Godzilla Fan
Being a Godzilla fan is fantastic right now! Not only could we see Godzilla causing chaos in Texas (and the previous Godzilla vs. America stories have been excellent), but IDW Publishing is delivering a lot of great content. Their main Godzilla comic series, the Kai-Sei era, is going strong, and they’re releasing a fun twist on a classic with Romeo & Juliet and Godzilla on April 8th. Plus, a new series called The Horror of Godzilla will be available this summer. With a new era for the King of the Monsters, a romantic reimagining, and a scary new story, it truly feels like Godzilla is taking over – and we’re here for it!
Godzilla vs. America: Texas goes on sale May 13th from IDW. Pre-orders are due April 6th.
